Kevin Serafino
Kevin Serafino is an attorney with experience advising nonprofit organizations – including public charities, private foundations, trade and professional associations, and social welfare organizations – on a broad range of legal issues. He leverages his decade of experience working in-house at two national trade associations to provide practical and actionable legal advice to mission-driven organizations. Kevin counsels nonprofit organization clients on a wide array of matters, including formation, federal tax exemption, governance, affiliate relationships, operations, fundraising, and major transactions, among other issues. He also focuses on advising politically active organizations on federal and state lobbying, ethics, and campaign finance laws, and assists in designing compliance programs to complement high-profile and high-impact advocacy programs. In addition, he has extensive experience managing fundraising, strategy, and compliance for political action committees and other political organizations. Prior to joining TLG, Kevin served as an associate in the nonprofit organizations practice in the Washington, DC office of a leading mid-Atlantic law firm, while also practicing in the firm’s Chambers-ranked political law group. Before entering private practice, Kevin spent more than a decade in lobbying and compliance roles for two national trade associations, most recently as Vice President of Government Relations & Public Policy and Counsel at the Household & Commercial Products Association. Prior to that, he was a policy analyst and political strategist at the International Franchise Association. Kevin is committed to promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion, previously serving as the chair of his firm’s LGBTQ+ employee resource group and as a liaison to the firm-wide DEI committee. He also holds a Certified Association Executive (CAE) certification from the American Society of Association Executives (ASAE), where he serves as a board member of ASAE’s political action committee. From 2018-20, he was honored as a Fellow of the distinguished Bryce Harlow Foundation, an organization dedicated to advancing the integrity of government advocacy.
