Key practice areas
Banking and finance: Our banking and finance department advises both domestic and international lenders in all forms of secured and unsecured lending. We act for all types of borrower and lender, including corporates (SME and otherwise); partnerships; limited partnerships and private individuals in all forms of financing. We advise clients in the areas of: acquisition and leveraged finance, real estate finance, asset finance, project and construction finance, restructuring and re-financing, bilateral and syndicated lending, enforcement, to include pre-enforcement reviews, insolvency and inter-company lending.
Commercial real estate: Our commercial real estate team has extensive experience across all aspects of commercial property, having acted in some of the most high profile current commercial property transactions in Ireland. Whether a seasoned Irish property market professional or a newcomer seeking to navigate the peculiarities of the Irish real estate market, our commercial real estate team is ideally placed to provide practical and tailored advice. We advise clients in the areas of: acquisition and disposal of properties, drafting and negotiation of commercial leases for both landlord and tenants and property development transactions.
Construction and projects: Our C&P team has particular expertise in the drafting and negotiation of building contracts, development agreements, forward funding agreements, development management agreements, interface agreements, professional appointments and warranties. We have current market experience in bonds and bonding; guarantees and sureties; liens and other security interests; tendering; construction claims and related consultancy contracts.
Corporate: We represent a broad spectrum of business sectors and advise on a full range of domestic and international transactions. In particular, our Department provides specialist advice in the area of technology, innovation and intellectual property and deals extensively with businesses in the healthcare and life sciences sector. We provide services across a number of areas including: mergers and acquisitions, fundraisings and investments, corporate restructurings and re-organisations, commercial contracts, corporate governance and compliance, technology and intellectual property and international business.
Debt recovery: We act for businesses of all sizes, both domestic and international, including lending institutions, professional services organisations and companies in the manufacturing, retail, and construction sectors. Our team acts for major financial institutions in processing high volumes of repossession proceedings in relation to residential mortgage arrears. We process arrears cases before the Circuit Court and High Court. With our network of agents nationwide, we can progress cases efficiently.
Employment and benefits: Our employment and benefits team advises domestic and international corporate clients in contentious and non-contentious issues that arise in all aspects of the employer and employee relationship. We advise employers and employees in the areas of: employment contracts, policies and procedures, High Court employment injunctions, industrial relations, unfair dismissals, equality, TUPE, workplace relations and Labour Court hearings, workplace investigations and disciplinary procedures and pensions and other benefits.
Life sciences: Our life sciences team has experience advising companies involved in all aspects of the healthcare industry, including pharmaceutical and medical device companies, healthcare and medical supply logistics companies and healthcare providers. We advise a wide range of companies in the life sciences industry with clients ranging from Fortune 500 companies to new enterprises. Our team has experience in all aspects of law relevant to life sciences including clinical trials, commercial and research services agreements, intellectual property, regulatory matters, corporate structuring and commercial contracts.
Litigation and dispute resolution: Our litigation and dispute resolution department is highly experienced in cases initiated before all Courts in Ireland. In particular, we regularly advise in complex High Court and Commercial Court actions on behalf of domestic and international clients. We advise clients in the following areas: complex High Court and Commercial Court litigation, injunctions, breach of contract claims, professional negligence claims, complex commercial disputes, company law disputes, planning disputes, personal injury litigation, alternative dispute resolution and debt recovery litigation.
Privacy and data security: Our team has experience in dealing with complex issues which may arise in this area, together with the knowledge and skills to foresee issues which may arise for businesses in the future. We have extensive experience in advising our clients in respect of the GDPR, to include reviewing and drafting privacy and data protection policies, drafting data protection agreements, and dealing with general queries relating to compliance with the GDPR.
Private client: Our private client team offers a range of legal and advisory services to meet our clients’ and their families’ individual requirements. We provide a professional, personalised and discreet service in order to address the legal issues which arise for our clients. Our team works with clients in the making of wills and identifying asset protection initiatives, such as establishing trusts to protect current and future assets. We provide expert advice on a range of other areas including administration of estates and related taxation, advice surrounding capacity as well as assisting clients in the acquisition, disposal and mortgage of residential property.
Regulation: Our regulation team provides advice to clients across a wide range of regulated sectors, including financial institutions, professional bodies and government agencies. We have extensive experience in advising funds and loan purchasers on compliance with the regulatory issues arising from the purchase of loan portfolios. We are experienced in advising members of regulated professions, who are subject to investigations and enquiries undertaken by their professional bodies.
Social and affordable housing: Our social housing team works with a variety of clients in the social housing market. Clients include domestic and international private investors, investment funds, lenders and charitable organisations. We provide services across the following areas: Property and construction (land acquisitions and disposals, site assembly, development agreements, joint ventures, building contracts, grant and funding agreements), banking and finance (acting for borrowers and lenders on various funding arrangements, advising on loan facility documentation, note purchase agreements and aggregated bond loans), litigation (development issues including site clearance and possession, leasehold issues, lease renewals) and corporate (advising on mergers and acquisitions, corporate joint ventures, exclusivity agreements and development projects).
