Position

Chair of the Banking & Finance practice and Co-Chair of the M&A and Arbitration & Mediation groups. Andrés has over 20 years of experience in Mexico, New York, and Latin America. His clientele includes companies listed in the Fortune 50 and Fortune 500, as well as those on the Dow Jones, S&P 500, DAX, TSX, and the Nikkei.

Career

Andrés has a multidisciplinary practice with a strong emphasis on banking and finance, capital markets, fintech, corporate law, mergers and acquisitions, private equity, as well as arbitration and alternative dispute resolution (ADR). His expertise spans a wide range of legal areas, making him a versatile and valuable professional.

Andrés has provided strategic counsel to both Mexican and foreign companies, playing a crucial role in their most significant operations across Mexico and Latin America. His diverse clientele includes regional and multinational corporations, as well as financial institutions from the United States, Canada, Germany, the European Community, and Asia.  His advisory expertise extends to the development of legal strategies and solutions, encompassing transnational acquisitions, financial operations, banking investments, and corporate formations, associations, and reorganizations. One of his notable achievements was serving as one of the leading counsel for Anheuser-Busch InBev in its mandatory tender offer for the acquisition of shares, securing control of Grupo Modelo with a value of 20.1 billion dollars. This landmark deal stands as the largest operation in the Mexican and Latin American markets.  In addition to his achievements in transactional law, Andrés is a seasoned lawyer specializing in commercial arbitration matters. He has served as an arbitrator, court secretary, and litigator in numerous ad hoc and institutional arbitrations; these include proceedings administered by leading administrative institutions such as the ICC, the ICDR, the LCIA, the AAA, the CIAC, the CANACO, and the CAM. Andrés's expertise in arbitration spans a variety of complex disputes, covering areas such as infrastructure, power generation, supply and transportation of natural gas, mining, pharmaceuticals, telecommunications, consumer goods, and conflicts between shareholders, among others.

Education

Andrés graduated from Escuela Libre de Derecho (J.D. equivalent) cum laude, obtained a Master in Laws degree from Columbia University in New York, and has post graduate studies in Arbitration, Financial Law, Corporate Finance Private Equity and Venture Capital.
