Juan Miguel has a wealth of experience representing both public and private sector clients. His extensive involvement in over 3,000 contentious proceedings encompasses various civil and commercial disputes, including contract disagreements, shareholder disputes, and bankruptcy issues related to real estate assets, liabilities, and more. His focus on moral damages and strict liability has enabled him to deliver innovative solutions that yield significant benefits and mitigate potential contingencies affecting operational budgets and necessary reserves.
In addition to his extensive litigation background, Juan Miguel's business-oriented approach adds considerable value to his clients, as he actively participates in transactional matters, assisting the Corporate, Finance, and Real Estate practices in identifying and averting legal challenges. Juan Miguel earned his law degree from Escuela Libre de Derecho and Universidad Pontificia in Mexico City. In 2017, he completed a postgraduate degree in Civil and Commercial Litigation Law at Universidad Panamericana in Mexico City. He furthered his education with the “Smart Collaboration” Master Class at Harvard Law School in 2020, and in 2021, he obtained a diploma in Amparo Trials from Mexico's Supreme Court of Justice. In 2022, he received a certificate in Business Administration from Instituto de Empresa in Madrid, Spain, and completed his LL.M. at Northwestern University Pritzker School of Law.

With more than twenty years of robust experience, Juan Miguel has adeptly represented a variety of companies and has substantial public sector experience, particularly while working in the legal department of Exportadora de Sal, S.A. de C.V., where he played a key role in negotiations with various governmental agencies.
His extensive involvement in critical dispute resolution matters has prepared him to support different areas of Assembla in negotiations with clients aimed at resolving conflicts and ensuring business continuity.
Beyond his public sector tenure, Juan Miguel has excelled in private practice as the Partner leading the dispute resolution practices at Ibarra, del Paso y Gallego, S.C. and Portillo y de la Cruz, S.C. He has also contributed significantly to renowned law firms such as López Velarde, Heftye y Soria, S.C. (now part of Dentons), where he primarily handled administrative proceedings, including challenges to public tenders, as well as De Haro, Cervantes y Rosas Torres, S.C., focusing on representing banking institutions in commercial and regulatory disputes involving authorities and financial services users.
