Founding Partner

Tomaž Čad is the Founding and Managing Partner of OP ČAD, bringing over 35 years of experience in the legal profession. He is widely recognized as a leading expert in commercial law, insolvency and restructuring, banking and finance and corporate law. Throughout his career, he has advised both domestic and international clients on complex legal matters, offering strategic counsel and innovative solutions tailored to their needs.

With extensive experience in insolvency and restructuring, Tomaž is frequently appointed as a bankruptcy trustee in insolvency and compulsory liquidation proceedings. His deep understanding of corporate structures and financial regulations makes him a trusted advisor to companies navigating financial distress, mergers, acquisitions, and restructuring processes.

In addition to his legal practice, Tomaž is actively involved in international legal networks and business organizations. He serves as the General Secretary of the IUSFUL European Legal Network and has been a key figure in the German-Slovenian Chamber of Commerce (AHK/DESLO), where he has contributed as both a Supervisory Board Member and former Management Board Member. His multilingual capabilities in Slovenian, English, German, Croatian, and Serbian allow him to assist clients from diverse backgrounds effectively.

Founding Partner, Attorney-at-Law Tomaž Čad, began to practice law independently in 1995, while at the same time acting as a Bankruptcy Receiver / Trustee in insolvency and compulsory liquidation proceedings under Slovenian legislation. He started his career in judicature, all the way to the state bar exam, then continued in the business sector (MP SlovenijalesTrgovina) and banking sector (UBK banka), after finally deciding to establish his own law firm - OP ČAD (slo. Odvetniška pisarna ČAD / eng. Law Firm ČAD). Under his leadership, the OP ČAD has grown into one of Slovenia’s most respected legal practices, known for its high level of professionalism, integrity, and client-focused approach.
