Types of work undertaken
Family: Divorce, financial disputes, freezing of assets, separation and prenuptial agreements, disputes about children, child abduction (both domestic and international), public law children proceedings and cohabitee disputes. Four partners are trained mediators. The department also houses one of the UK’s leading alternative families practice. Led by internationally renowned lawyer, Naomi Angell, the team advise on adoption, surrogacy and fertility law. The department also specialises in child abduction led by Simone McGrath.
Personal injury: The firm is known for representing clients who have suffered serious injuries including head, brain and spinal injuries. Head of the department Stuart Kightley specialises in head and brain injury claims and rehabilitation, especially those arising from bicycle collisions. The firm is the legal partner of The London Cycling Campaign. The firm specialises in all accidents including accidents at work, including injuries as a result of construction site and scaffolding accidents, and cosmetic surgery injuries. The department also handles high-profile child abuse claims. The firm is an approved lawyer of Headway UK, The Brain Injury Group, The Spinal Injuries Association, The Limbless Association and RoadPeace.
Catastrophic injury: Led by recognised leading individual Ben Posford, the firm acts exclusively for claimants who have suffered life-changing injuries, including spinal cord injuries, brain injuries, amputations and fatalities. Ben is a specialist in cauda equina syndrome and has a special interest in early rehabilitation for those have been seriously injured.
Medical negligence: The department is led by the highly regarded Stephanie Prior and specialises in serious injury cases with a particular interest in birth injuries. It can assist with all medical negligence claims from relatively minor injuries to catastrophic and life changing injuries such as spinal cord damage and brain injury. Lawyers are accredited by AvMA, The Law Society’s Clinical Negligence panel and the Society of Clinical Injury Lawyers
Property: Residential and commercial sales and purchases, leasehold enfranchisement, licences to underlet, remortgages, auction purchases, transfers of equity, staircasing leases, lease variations and licences for alterations.
Property litigation: Landlord and tenant disputes, restrictive covenants, rights of way/easements and disputes concerning interpretation of leases. All aspects of housing law are handled, including homelessness, possession proceedings, disrepair, unlawful eviction and transfer applications.
Private client: Preparation of wills and probate administration by expert lawyers. Also specialises in disputed estates and intestacy, powers of attorney, trusts and Court of Protection.
