Career

Jim heads up the employment law team at Hesketh Henry and also co-leads our Litigation and Disputes Resolution team. He has been practising employment law since 1992. Jim helps his clients, who are from a range of industries, develop their employment strategies which include collective bargaining, personal grievance processes, disputes, human rights, health and safety and accident compensation. As well as providing strategic legal advice, Jim has been involved in collective bargaining in industries as varied as aviation, maritime, dairy, meat, finance, electricity, telecommunications and insurance. Jim also assists his clients with compliance work in order to minimise their exposure to risk, with a particular focus on employment agreements and policies. He also regularly advises on issues arising from mergers and acquisitions, from strategic advice regarding the transfer of employees, through due diligence to offers of employment. During his career, Jim has acted on a number of leading cases. Particular highlights are a Court of Appeal benchmark case on the correct approach to interpretation of collective agreements and appearing in the Privy Council regarding employment jurisdiction.
