Auaychai Sukawong Joins Tilleke & Gibbins to Lead Regional Tax Team

Tilleke & Gibbins is pleased to announce the addition of tax law heavyweights Auaychai Sukawong and Chanattorn Thunyaluck to the firm’s tax practice. Auaychai joins the firm as a partner and head of the firm’s regional tax practice, and Chanattorn joins as a senior associate in the firm’s Bangkok office.

Auaychai’s practice focuses on tax structuring for inbound and outbound investment in ASEAN, and outbound investment structuring for Southeast Asian companies expanding overseas—especially into China, the European Union, India, Japan, and the United States. He is renowned for his investment structuring planning, tax treaty interpretation, BEPS advisory and implementation work, tax implementation exercises related to business restructuring and reorganization, and tax due diligence.

Auaychai brings over 20 years of experience practicing tax law with several of the world’s largest accounting and professional services firms. He joins the firm following several years as a partner in the Bangkok office of a Big Four professional services firm, where he led the Consumer Retail and Infrastructure business units. Some of his work included advising Thailand-based clients on outbound investment and overseas business expansion, and assisting family businesses with business restructuring for tax-efficiency or initial public offerings (IPOs).

Chanattorn is a seasoned senior tax associate whose practice focuses on M&A-related tax and transaction advisory, tax mitigation planning for business restructuring, tax and legal advice for inbound and outbound investment, and other tax and compliance regulatory matters. She is well regarded for her work on tax structuring for high-net-worth individuals and family businesses for legacy planning and IPO purposes. She has 15 years of experience working with Thailand’s leading law and professional services firms, and she joins Tilleke & Gibbins after a period as associate director of the M&A tax department at the Bangkok office of a Big Four professional services firm.

Auaychai and Chanattorn are strong additions to Tilleke & Gibbins’ globally well-regarded tax practice, and under Auaychai’s leadership the practice is expected to further enhance its integrated, multi-jurisdictional services across Southeast Asia.
