Areas of practice
Corporate and M&A: BE Partners has extensive experience in cross-border deals and advises the full range of parties to M&A transactions. The firm has acted in several major transactions in recent years, and advises a number of large MNCs on all aspects of the M&A deal-making process. The partners of the firm, Bagus Nur Buwono and Enrico Iskandar, have been involved in all aspects of legal work, including advice on acquisition structures, preparation of transaction documents, and negotiation and completion of all transaction documents. Both of them are recognised as a ‘leading individual’ in the corporate and M&A fields.

Banking: BE Partners has actively represented foreign banks and investment banks as well as financial institutions on all types of loan and financing related transactions, restructuring and advisory from the traditional loan agreements, and project financing to more complex syndicated facilities. The firm continues to be the main counsel for various foreign banks. Principal partner of the firm, Bagus Nur Buwono, is recognised as a ‘commercially minded and flexible lawyer’.

Insurance: BE Partners has a ‘comprehensive’ insurance practice and regularly advises major clients such as AIG Insurance, Etiqa Insurance & Takaful and Manulife Insurance on transactions as well as regulatory matters. Bagus Nur Buwono leads the firm’s insurance practice.

Property and real estate: BE Partners has been actively representing a large number of MNCs, hotel operators and developers as well as individuals in all types of land-related transactions in a variety of business sectors, including hotels, shopping malls, tourism, general mining, plantation, forestry and infrastructure. The firm’s representation includes advice on the acquisition, sale, relinquishment, mortgage and encumbrance of lands, establishing joint venture companies, drafting and reviewing various commercial contracts, and steering licensing approval documentation through government agencies.

IT, media and telecommunications: BE Partners has extensive experience in IT, media and telecommunications. Enrico Iskandar is recognised as a ‘leading specialist’ and has led the firm’s practice on a broad range of transactional, advisory and contentious matters and regularly advises on regulatory issues in telecommunications, networks and satellite operations, data protection/privacy, encryption, outsourcing, IT contracts and e-commerce (online securities, trading and advertising). Recently Enrico and his team’s representations have included advising various major foreign telecommunication operators and IT companies in relation to various legal requirements, contracts, arrangements and complex regulatory aspects.

Corporate restructuring and insolvency: Bagus Nur Buwono and his team have been actively advising foreign clients, such as Barclays Bank, Proton Malaysia and Commonwealth Bank, on restructuring and liquidation processes regarding their Indonesian subsidiaries.
