Career

Usman Jillani is an Associate Partner at ABS & Co’s Islamabad office where he works as part of the Dispute Resolution practice. He heads the litigation practice in Islamabad.

Usman Jillani completed his B.A LLB (Hons) from the Punjab University Law College. Jillani studied Civil Procedure Code from Justice (r) Aamir Raza Khan and secured a distinction in the subject. He also worked as a Research Associate with Research Society of International Law (RSIL) during last two years of his graduation.

After graduation, Jillani has devoted his attention towards litigation related to various areas of law and is presently dealing with around 200 cases, while having a disposal rate of around 20 cases per month. Most significantly, Jillani is recognised as a Recommended Lawyer by Legal 500.

As part of his practice, Jillani has been instrumental in favorably arguing complex real estate matters related to land acquisition before different High Courts i.e. Balochistan, Abbottabad, Lahore, Peshawar, Islamabad, etc. wherein he has been successful in obtaining a relief amounting to billions of rupees for the firm’s clients. Jillani being of fastidious nature, has also identified major law points and lacunae within the cases assigned to him and has advised clients, leading to favorable decisions.

Some of the areas of law Jillani has practiced in include; taxation, land acquisition, real estate, energy sector, contractual disputes, construction matters, employment matters, ECL matters, arbitration, banking laws, etc.

Aside from litigation, Jillani’s acute sense with regards to law and the ability to discern a viable course of action, has been helpful in his endeavor into transactional work. In relation to which, he has drafted numerous sale agreements/ agreements to sell, power of attorneys, service contracts, policies establishing entities/ commissions, policies related to surety bonds etc. Jillani is also handling various criminal cases pertaining to white-collar crimes on behalf of various public sector entities.
