In 2013, the well-reputed Danish law firm BvHD (Bender von Haller Dragsted) merged with Bird & Bird to form the firm’s office in Denmark. Based in the capital Copenhagen, the firm offers a team of over 42 bilingual (Danish and English) lawyers.

The office is headed by head of country Casper Moltke-Leth.

Areas of practice: The Danish team is equally at home working on domestic matters in Denmark, advising across the Nordic region in conjunction with the firm’s teams in Sweden and Finland or further afield internationally. Corporate, commercial and M&A: advises on all commercial aspects and transactions, especially within the media and IT sector, representing purchasers, sellers, intermediaries, financial partners and VCs.

Data protection and privacy: advises both, private companies and public authorities on all data protection and privacy issues such as GDPR, BCR’s, compliance guidelines and in connection to data transfer, outsourcing, cloud computing, big data etc.

E-commerce and media: advises on all aspects of e-commerce, such as marketing practice act, IPR, sales of goods act, export/import rules, press and media law, press ethics and broadcasting rules.

Intellectual property: advises on all aspects of intellectual property, especially in connection with IT and the Internet, including open source, creative commons, licenses and development agreements, and social web services. Furthermore, the firm has experience in infringement actions, litigation, cases about counterfeited goods and handling license audits.

Outsourcing: advises on all aspects of outsourcing and offshoring, including outsourcing in the finance sector.

Public procurement: advises on all aspects of public procurement, especially for public authorities, from the initial procurement phase and strategy considerations to final allocation, including process management, underlying contracts, dispute resolution etc.

Litigation and arbitration: advises on all kind of legal disputes, including injunctions, especially within IT and IPR-related matters, being able to represent clients in all Danish courts. Several of the firm’s lawyers are certified mediators.

Employment and HR: advises on all types of employment issues, from hiring to termination, including drafting compliance guides and policies, benefits arrangements, outsourcing arrangements and collective agreements.
