The firm: In 2016 Royzz & Co restructured to become a full-service law firm. It is headed by its founder and managing partner, Ms Mahua Roy Chowdhury. The restructuring has resulted in the expansion of its practice areas and, accordingly, the induction of new partners in various domains. Mr Sanjay Visen (litigation), Mr Rakesh Parik (corporate, M&A and tax) and Mr Dhaval Shah (real estate and project finance) and Mr Suresh Balakrishnan (insurance-of counsel). The firm has its presence in Mumbai, Delhi,Ahmedabad and  Chennai. The firm is skilled in commercial dispute resolution and technology transaction while  retaining its core strength in IP including patent drafting,  prosecution and litigation. Litigation and dispute resolution
: the team has been successful in unprecedented litigation, including that related to complex technology. Royzz & Co’s team of attorneys are qualified and experienced engineers and scientists, thus they can easily relate to and provide pragmatic solutions in contentious issues related to varied and complex technology. The team have been successful in several software infringement dispute resolution as well.

The team is also equally skilled in arbitration and mediation and has handled complicated contractual disputes involving diverse technologies.

The team has been involved in the establishment of a leading luxury automobile company as a well-known trade mark in India, received the relief of a John Doe order against the counterfeit sellers from the Delhi High Court, as well as being involved in the revocation of patents in different forums.

The techno team led by Ms Mahua Roy Chowdhury advised clients for multi-actions against Date Theft and successfully enforced the same through injunctions from the court.

The team has successfully procured interim injunction orders for infringement of trade marks of a “Famous/Well- known” marks from Delhi High Court.

The team assists a leading MNC FMCG company regarding the enforcement of its IP and advisory related to the same.

It successfully resolved a software infringement dispute against a leading software company for a multimillion-dollar claim wherein it challenged an audit report of a leading global auditing firm.

It was also involved in strategic advisory and representation in a commercial arbitration, wherein the dispute was regarding a boot contract for providing filtration technology and services between two companies and a claim of multimillions of dollars.

General corporate: the team has been involved in advising, structuring and strategising various acquisitions including  acquisitions of technology, spin-offs and acquisition of stakes by investors.

The team has also advised in relation to several Indian entry including tax and regulatory norms, downstream investment and FDI guidelines related to the same.

The corporate team supports transactions including JVs, appointing distributors and franchisees and has experience in vast licensing agreements.

Intellectual property: Royzz & Co, was a leading IP & IT boutique firm before evolving to become a full service law firm, which was natural growth encouraged by its diverse clients and track record of success in  litigation, dispute resolution and in the handling of complex transactions.

The team has patent attorneys and agents from various domains like electronics, software, life science, chemical, mechanical, automobile, biotech. The firm has clients such as the Indian Institute of Technology, several international universities and MNCs as its clients for patents.

Taxation: the team advised various clients on the newly introduced reforms in the Indian tax regime under the Central Goods and Services Tax Act, 2017. It has expertise and experience in several companies entering India.

Insurance: Royzz & Co has evolved to be a firm dealing with insurance disputes, especially related to professional liability, which is an emerging domain in India and it has extensive experience in negotiating claims and allocations. It is representing several IT companies in resolving disputes with insurance companies.
