Adam Dowdney
Adam, partner and head of the Reading office, specialises in corporate finance work, including mergers and acquisitions, MBOs/MBIs, private equity transactions (acting for management and investment entities), restructurings, joint ventures, shareholder agreements and general company law. Adam works on large, high-profile and complex transactions across numerous business sectors. Clients range from SMEs to multi-nationals and listed companies. Recent deal highlights include acting for the shareholders of Resourcing Solutions Limited on the disposal to Matchtech PLC, advising the management team of Sabio Limited on the £50 million MBO backed by Lyceum Capital Partners and advising the UK subsidiary of the Celli Group on its acquisition of Angram Limited.
Amanda Melton
Amanda is a partner, head of the family team, and group head of the private client group at IBB Solicitors. She deals with family disputes including all financial aspects of divorce, private law Children Act applications, disputes between cohabitees and aspects of wealth protection in the form of cohabitation agreements, prenuptial agreements and generally advising on the protection of family generated wealth on marriage/cohabitation. Amanda also deals with Inheritance Act claims and all family disputes arising on death.
Andrew Olins
Andrew is a partner and a real estate dispute resolution specialist. He conducts 'big ticket' disputes relating to the acquisition and disposal of development sites (including claims for specific performance, recession and rectification), planning appeals and judicial review of planning decisions, and disputes arising from substantial property portfolios (including dilapidations claims, service charge and rent review disputes). Major clients include: AVIVA, BAM Group, Frogmore Group and Bellway Homes.
Eddie Tang
Eddie Tang has a wide range of experience in criminal defence work. He joined the firm in 2007 as a senior solicitor and was promoted to Partner in 2011. His cases take him the length and breadth of the UK. As well as a high number of cases in West London, he has also represented clients in Bristol, Manchester, Leeds, Southampton and Nottingham.
Gemma Coles
Gemma is a partner in the commercial real estate team at IBB. Gemma has 20 years' experience working within the property sector, starting as a residential paralegal, moving into commercial property in 2007, and more recently carving out specialisms including charity property law and secured lending/banking and finance. Gemma���s clients include large corporates in sectors such as pharmaceuticals, manufacturing, research and development, retail/leisure and charities. She also provides banking and finance advice to private developers and investors. Gemma is accustomed to working cross borders, taking instructions from clients in the US and Germany and is head of IBB’s banking and finance team.
Harriet Jones
Specialising in working with owner-managed businesses and established SMEs, Harriet works on a range of commercial and corporate matters, leading to some describing her as more like a partner in their business than an external lawyer. Her broad skill set means that she regularly advises on commercial contracts, including areas concerning data protection, as well as corporate restructurings, share incentive schemes and business or share acquisitions and disposals. Harriet has worked in Thames Valley since qualification, and became a partner in 2018. Her clients range from industrial SMEs and businesses in the finance sector, to UK subsidiaries of distribution companies and suppliers in the film and television industry. Harriet enjoys working with clients to achieve their commercial objectives and goes the extra mile to understand the pressure points for businesses and provide valuable strategic advice in the context of the legal issue.
Jacqueline Almond
Jacqueline is Head of the Private Client Teams in Chesham and Uxbridge. She specialises in all aspects of private client work. This includes the Court of Protection and acting as a professional deputy. Her strengths lie in dealing with the assets of high net worth individuals, including overseas matters, domicile issues and estates with business and agricultural assets. Jacqueline has particular experience of working with people who have acquired brain injury and advises on setting up personal injury trusts as well as related Court of Protection advice. She speaks widely on these areas to professionals and special interest groups. Jane Mas
Jane joined IBB Law following a merger with Owen White Solicitors in January 2023. Jane deals with a wide range of Corporate & Business matters including buying and selling businesses, drafting commercial contracts including distribution and agency and advising shareholders of private companies. Jane heads the Franchise Team and has in excess of 30 years’ experience of advising franchisors in the development of their franchise networks, including drafting Franchise Agreements and Master Licence Agreements, acting in the sale and purchase of franchise businesses and intellectual property matters.
Javita Malhotra
Javita has established a wide ranging family practice with a particular specialism in complex high value financial matters with multi jurisdictional issues. She has acted on a number of high net worth cases with recent experience including advising on a divorce in which the gross value of the assets were in excess of £30 million.
John Milner
John specialises in acting for individuals under investigation for financial crime. He represented a Barclay’s trader in the recent LIBOR trial; a trader in the $200m fraud on Russian bank, Otkritie, and the first defendant in a £160m SFO fraud on banks by an asset finance company. Current instructions include the SFO investigations into EURIBOR, Tesco, Serco, The Balli Group and FH Bertling, and the FCA prosecution of a former UBS compliance officer for insider dealing.
Jon Mowbray
Jon is a partner in the real estate litigation team and group head of the commercial property group. He specialises in sale/purchase and joint venture disputes, dilapidations, break clauses, rights of way, construction of leases, rent review, service charge disputes and business lease renewals. He has experience in property disputes worth up to £100m. As an ADR Group Accredited Mediator, he aims to resolve disputes as swiftly and cost-effectively as possible. Due to the proximity of the HS2 development, Jon has extensive experience in HS2 matters. Whilst much of his work is derived from the West London and Thames Valley market, Jon also provides services to national insurers and retailers.
Justin Govier
Justin is partner and head of the employment team. He acts for national and global corporates and larger SMEs providing general HR advice, defending Employment Tribunal claims and advising the C-suite on strategic decisions such as restructuring and redundancies. He provides training to HR departments, in-house counsel and management, and regularly presents seminars to external audiences. He maintains personal relationships with lawyers from each major jurisdiction in Europe and a number in the Middle East.
