International Trusts and Private Client
Position
Alexander is Counsel in the Mourant International Trusts and Private Client practice in Guernsey. He practises in all areas of contentious and non-contentious private client and succession matters.
Alexander assists individuals (including settlors, protectors, trustees and beneficiaries) as well as family offices and corporate trustees with all aspects of Guernsey trust law, pension law and foundation law. He also advises on matters of Cayman Islands and BVI trust law and assists Mourant's offices in both locations.
Alexander has a predominately advisory and transactional practice. He advises high-net-worth families, in particular families and individuals with backgrounds in business, technology and digital assets, about their wealth and succession structuring, including family office structuring. He works with these families to establish and manage their international asset holding structures and develop pragmatic succession plans for the passing of these structures to the wider family over generations.
He also advises Guernsey and foreign trust companies about all aspects of Guernsey trust administration, including trustee disclosure obligations and fiduciary duties, changes and removal of trustees, breach of trust issues, processes for making momentous decisions and conflict of interest issues. Where disputes or litigation arise from decisions relating to the administration of trusts, he assists trustees, beneficiaries and settlors to resolve these disputes, through negotiation or with the intervention of the Court.
Career
Alexander joined Mourant in 2020, having previously practised at Cooper Grace Ward, a leading national law firm in Australia.
