Position
Anne Borkovic’s practice includes export controls, antibribery and anti-money laundering, and economic sanctions laws and regulations. She advises U.S. and international clients on law and policy affecting international trade and business in sectors including technology, aerospace, energy, defense, health care and life sciences, engineering services, logistics and freight forwarding, manufacturing, venture capital, private equity and retailers. She routinely works on matters related to defense trade controls (International Traffic in Arms Regulations), dual-use export controls (Export Administration Regulations), antibribery and anti-money laundering (Bank Secrecy Act and Foreign Corrupt Practices Act) and U.S. economic sanctions programs.

Career
Anne has deep regulatory experience and has helped clients successfully conduct internal reviews, audits and investigations; develop and implement compliance programs and strategies; prepare voluntary disclosures; negotiate settlements with relevant agencies; and draft license applications, ruling requests, protests, commodity jurisdiction requests, advisory opinion requests and other submissions to relevant agencies.
She has been practicing with Akin since 2011, and was elevated to partner in 2019.
