Simon Chamberlain

Simon is a partner in our litigation and dispute management group. He heads the construction and engineering team in the North. He specialises in construction and engineering contracts, capital assets procurement, framework contracts, construction litigation, arbitration, adjudication, mediation, early neutral evaluation and other forms of ADR. he has particular expertise in the education, energy and nuclear sectors.

His recent experience includes:

advising Manchester City Council on the construction contracts for its £150 million refurbishment and partial restoration of the iconic Grade II* listed Town Hall Extension, Central Library and St. Peters Square;

advising a uranium enrichment processing business on the construction and engineering contracts for the design, construction and supply of the process equipment for its £350 million Tails Management Facility; and

advising a developer on the successful defence of a £5 million contractor's claim for loss and expense, variations, preliminary/prolongation costs and delay and disruption involving seven adjudications, two arbitrations and an application to appeal which was reported.

He is regarded by Legal 500 and Chambers legal directories as a leading individual, recommended for providing "a 'first-class' service across a range of complex projects, and has 'excellent knowledge'".

Simon was awarded a Masters degree in Construction Law and Arbitration from Leeds Metropolitan University with a distinction. He now  lectures on that course. He is also an Associate of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators.
