Laura is a Senior Associate in our education employment team. Laura is experienced in advising clients on matters of equality and diversity, atypical working, organisational change and TUPE. Laura also regularly advises in respect of complex internal processes as well as negotiated exits. Laura’s contentious work includes complex discrimination and whistleblowing litigation in the Employment Tribunal and Employment Appeal Tribunal. Laura conducts her own advocacy in the Employment Tribunal and has secured several successful results. Laura has developed her industrial relations practice and has experience in advising clients in relation to strategy, options and risks surrounding collective disputes and threatened industrial action.

Laura’s recent experience includes:

– being the lead Eversheds contact supporting both client and Counsel before and during the hearing of a 15 day Tribunal claim concerned with multiple allegations of discrimination, harassment, victimisation and whistleblowing against a large HE institution

– securing the entirety of costs (approx. £170k) for an HE client by way of a successful costs application in the Tribunal.

– defending claims brought concerned with alleged less favourable treatment arising out of atypical contractual working arrangements/successive fixed term contracts commonly used within the sector.

– advising institutions regarding issues of ‘global mobility’ in conjunction with tax and immigration colleagues.
