Matthew is an associate in the national planning team. He advises on all aspects of planning, listed building and compulsory purchase law under the Town and Country Planning Act 1990.

He has acted for a wide range of private and public sector clients as well as development companies and private individuals. He has experience in both contentious and non-contentious matters, including section 106 agreements, highways agreements and stopping up, compulsory purchase, environmental impact assessment, judicial review and planning appeals.

Matthew’s experience includes advising the landowner and developer in obtaining planning permission for two tall towers in London following public inquiry. Advising a luxury hotel operator on all aspects of a planning application, and subsequent successful appeal by public inquiry, for the conversion of an office building to hotel use in central London. Reviewing and advising on all aspects of a successful planning application, including environmental statement, for a major hospital regeneration scheme including residential enabling works in the green belt with associated planning agreement under section 106 of the Town and Country Planning Act 1990.
