Aaron Mulcahy

Aaron is a partner of Maples and Calder's Funds & Investment Management team in the Maples Group's Dublin office. He advises on a wide variety of legal and regulatory issues facing Irish domiciled collective investment schemes (CIS) and has particular expertise in the establishment, operation and regulation of all types of Irish CIS, including UCITS and AIFs. Aaron's expertise also extends to the establishment and operation of Irish regulated AIFMs, UCITS management companies, "mega-ManCos", MiFID investment firms and unregulated 1907 Act limited partnership and SPV structures. His practice also covers the governance, cross-border distribution and management of such entities into and out of Ireland, as well as the impact of wider regulatory initiatives such as compliance with the SFDR and the Taxonomy Regulation.

Adam Donoghue

Adam is a partner of Maples and Calder's Funds & Investment Management team in the Maples Group's London office. He heads the Irish team in the firm's London office, where he primarily advises UK and European asset managers on the structuring, establishment and operation of Irish fund products. Adam has broad experience advising on a wide spectrum of Irish regulated UCITS and AIFs with a particular focus on the alternatives space, including hedge funds, liquid and private credit funds, private equity funds, managed account platforms, direct lending/ loan origination funds, real asset/ infrastructure funds and master-feeder structures. He has advised on all types of Irish fund vehicles including ICAVs, unit trusts, CCFs, investment companies, and most recently he advised on the very first investment limited partnership (ILP) to be authorised by the Central Bank under the revised legislative framework. Aside from fund vehicles, Adam's expertise extends to the establishment and operation of Irish regulated AIFMs, UCITS management companies, "super-mancos", MiFID investment firms and unregulated 1907 Act limited partnership and SPV structures. His practice also covers the governance, financing, cross-border distribution, management and relocation/ redomiciliation of such entities into and out of Ireland, as well as the impact of wider regulatory initiatives such as compliance with the EU’s Sustainable Finance Disclosure Regulations ("SFDR") and Taxonomy Regulations.

Alan O'Sullivan

Alan is a partner in the firm's Commercial Litigation and Dispute Resolution Department. Alan specialises in banking litigation, lender enforcement (particularly receivership), insolvency and restructuring, shareholder disputes and commercial property matters. Alan acts for financial institutions, insolvency practitioners, private equity funds, bondholders, wealth management firms and property holding companies. Alan has extensive experience in litigating matters in the Irish Superior Courts particularly the Commercial Court and Court of Appeal. Alan also specialises in alternative dispute resolution including in particular mediation and arbitration.

Alex Walsh

Alma O'Sullivan

Alma is a partner of Maples and Calder's Banking team in the Maples Group's Dublin office. Alma has experience in advising on a range of domestic and cross-border banking and finance transactions. Alma’s expertise includes advising banks and borrowers in connection with corporate debt facilities, acquisition financing, fund finance, real estate financing (investment and development) and restructurings. She also has particular expertise in real estate financing involving QIAIF structures and portfolio loan sales.

Andrew Quinn

Andrew is head of Maples and Calder's Tax team and is based in the Maples Group's Dublin office. He is an acknowledged leader in Irish and international tax and advises companies, investment funds, banks and family offices on Ireland's international tax offerings. Andrew is a member of the Dublin office Management Committee.

Aoife McDonagh

Aoife is a partner of Maples and Calder's Funds & Investment Management team in the Maples Group's Dublin office. She acts for a wide range of funds and service providers and has extensive experience in advising on the establishment, authorisation and operation of all types of Irish investment funds, in particular, UCITS and QIAIFs. Aoife also works with fund service providers in connection with depositary, administration and other service agreements. In addition, Aoife has experience in advising both lenders and borrowers on fund financing transactions.

Brian Clarke

Brian is a partner of Maples and Calder's Dispute Resolution & Insolvency team in the Maples Group's Dublin office. Brian has extensive experience advising both domestic and multinational clients on large and complex commercial disputes, including proceedings before the Commercial Court, as well as all forms of arbitration. He also has experience of different forms of alternative dispute resolution and has represented clients in mediation, conciliation, adjudication and expert determination procedures.

Caitriona Carty

Caitriona is a partner of Maples and Calder's Funds & Investment Management team in the Maples Group's Dublin office. She advises on the establishment, operation and regulation of a wide spectrum of UCITS and AIFMD funds, with extensive experience in managed account platforms, closed-ended structures, alternative UCITS, LQIAIFs and other specialised fund products. Caitriona also advises asset managers establishing Irish authorised AIFMs, UCITS and MiFID management companies. Caitriona spent a number of years with the Group's law firm in Hong Kong providing Irish funds solutions to the Asian client base of investment managers seeking to raise capital from European investors and speaking regularly at industry events regarding European fund products.

Callaghan Kennedy

Callaghan is a partner of Maples and Calder's Finance team in the Maples Group's Dublin office. Callaghan advises arrangers, managers, investors and issuers on a wide range of finance, debt capital markets and structured finance transactions. He focuses particularly on structured products, such as CLOs and other asset backed securitisations, commodities, utilities, marketplace lending and other alternative asset class financings, as well as on repackagings and other programme issuers. Callaghan also advises on fund-linked structures, such as managed account platforms, loan funds and debt funds. He regularly advises on wider financial services and regulatory law, both in relation to regimes that impact structured finance transactions‒such as STS, securities offerings, market abuse, EMIR and risk retention‒ and on issues generally affecting financial services firms, such as like licensing and establishment, change of control and ongoing regulatory compliance.

Ciara Ni Longaigh

Ciara is an associate in Maples and Calder's Employment team in the Maples Group's Dublin office. She advises on a broad range of employment related matters including unfair dismissal, disciplinary and grievance procedures, bullying, harassment and work-related stress processes, working time and equality issues. Ciara also has experience in advising in relation to contract reviews and the drafting of company policies and procedures.

Claire Morrissey

Claire is head of Maples and Calder's Data, Commercial & Technology team in the Maples Group's Dublin office. Claire is a leading adviser on data, technology and commercial contracts. She has a particular focus on GDPR compliance and investigations, emerging technologies and complex sourcing projects. Claire also regularly advises on the technology, IP and data aspects of joint ventures and mergers & acquisitions. Claire’s recent data experience includes advising on GDPR compliance, data transfers, data protection complaints and investigations and data breach management across all sectors including, in particular, financial services and technology. She has advised on a wide range of commercial contracts including IT contracts and major outsourcings in the financial services sector, intellectual property transfers and licensing, software development, distribution and R&D agreements.

Colm is co-head of Maples and Calder's Corporate team in the Maples Group's Dublin office. He has been involved in many of Ireland's most significant equity financings and transactions involving Irish private technology companies. Deirdre is a partner of Maples and Calder's Funds & Investment Management team in the Maples Group's Dublin office. Diarmuid Mawe

Diarmuid is head of the Dublin Commercial Property team at Maples and Calder, the Maples Group's law firm. Diarmuid advises on all types of commercial property transactions. Emma Conaty

Emma heads the Global Registration Services team within the Funds & Investment Management Group in the Dublin office. She has particular expertise in the cross-border distribution of UCITS and (onshore and offshore) AIFs globally including Europe, Asia Pacific, the Americas, the Far and Middle East (whether by way of private placement or publicly through the European Passport or local registration). Emma regularly advises promoters, fund managers and investment banks which operate UCITS, ETFs and AIFs on the initial market entry process (including any permitted pre-marketing activities) as well as ongoing maintenance filing requirements to ensure continued compliance and market access.

Frances Hamilton

Frances is a partner of Maples and Calder's Funds & Investment Management team in the Maples Group's Dublin office. Ian Conlon

Ian is a partner of Maples and Calder's Funds & Investment Management team in the Maples Group's Dublin office. Lorna Smith

Lorna Smith is a Partner in the Irish Financial Services Regulatory team at Maples and Calder, the Maples Group's law firm. Lorna has over 10 years' experience in financial services regulation, and in addition to more traditional industries like banking, insurance and investment services, Lorna’s practice also focuses on growth sectors such as fintech, alternative lending and sustainable finance. Lorna guides new financial institutions establishing in Ireland, across all industry sectors including MiFID investment firms and fund service providers, banks, insurers, e-money and payment firms, and credit servicing and retail credit firms. Lynn Cramer

Lynn is a partner of Maples and Calder's Tax team in the Maples Group's Dublin office. Lynn is a qualified solicitor in Ireland and an associate of the Irish Tax Institute with significant experience advising investment funds, SPVs and corporates on the Irish tax regime with a particular focus on tax planning for international clients. Peter Stapleton

Peter heads Maples and Calder's Funds & Investment Management team in the Maples Group's Dublin office. He regularly advises investors, sponsors, fund managers and investment banks on the establishment, structuring, financing, public and private distribution and ongoing operation of UCITS and AIFs, including hedge funds, funds of funds, master feeders, private equity funds, managed account platforms and bespoke structures. Peter also has significant expertise advising on derivatives, prime brokerage, investment services, MiFID and securities law. His clients include financial institutions carrying out business in Ireland, or transacting with Irish-domiciled counterparties from other jurisdictions. Robin McDonnell

Robin is head of the Dublin Dispute Resolution & Insolvency team at Maples and Calder, the Maples Group's law firm. He specialises in insolvency and corporate recovery / restructuring, and has acted in a wide range of compulsory and voluntary liquidations, examinerships, receiverships, schemes of arrangement and bankruptcies. Robin acts for insolvency and restructuring practitioners and advises distressed companies, company directors, shareholders and creditors of distressed companies. He has extensive experience in acting for NAMA, both domestic and international financial institutions and private equity funds in banking litigation and enforcement matters. Robin also has particular expertise in the restriction and disqualification of company directors.
