His clients include large global and regional private equity and hedge funds, boutique managers, smaller start-up funds and investee companies.

Matt is a partner and Head of Corporate, Asia of the Maples Group. He specialises in advising financial institutions, publicly listed and private companies, asset managers and promoters on mergers and acquisitions, special purpose acquisition companies (SPACs), private equity, joint ventures, reorganisations, corporate governance and capital markets (including initial public offerings, secondary offerings and preferred share financings).  Matt also has significant experience in advising on the establishment, structuring and restructuring of offshore investment funds at all stages of their life cycle.

Michael is Regional Managing Partner of Maples and Calder's Asia offices in Hong Kong and Singapore. He is also Global Head of the firm's British Virgin Islands ("BVI") practice.  His experience and areas of practice cover both BVI and Cayman Islands law and include a broad range of banking and structured finance work acting as lender counsel for international and regional banks and borrower work for funds and corporates.  In addition, Michael has significant corporate law experience (both public and private work) and regularly advises corporates and private equity funds on joint ventures, pre-IPO structures and downstream private equity acquisitions and disposals.
