Mr. Alvarez has developed his practice in labor and employment law, including individual, collective, and social security matters, specializing in the labor aspects of mergers and acquisitions operations, reorganizations and compensation of employees and executives.

Mr. Alvarez has broad experience representing national and transnational clients in all legal aspects of their labor relationships in Mexico, as well as other multijurisdictional labor issues, including legal advice for companies starting operations in Mexico, design of employment structures, preventive and corrective counsel with regards to compliance of employment obligations, labor reorganizations derived from mergers, acquisitions, spin-offs, reductions in force and other structural changes, advice in connection with labor relations and bargaining processes with unions, preparation and negotiation of employment documents such as individual employment agreements and collective bargaining agreements, structuring of hiring, compensation, incentive, retention and employment benefits schemes as well as work-related policies, modification of terms of employment, transfer of employees, termination of employment relationships, counsel with respect to subcontracting of personnel and rendering of services, legal audits regarding general compliance of obligations as well as investigations focused on potential wrongdoings by employees, attention to audits followed by labor authorities, advice in connection with “maquila” arrangements, etc.

For several years, Mr. Alvarez has been recognized as a leading lawyer in labor matters by the most important legal directories including Chambers and Partners and The Legal 500. Likewise, Mr. Alvarez is an active contributor to numerous legal and business publications such as the International Bar Association, Thomson Reuters, International Law Office, Chambers and Partners and Financier Worldwide, among others.

Mr. Alvarez obtained his Law degree (JD) with honors from Instituto Tecnológico de Estudios Superiores de Monterrey in 2011. He also obtained a Postgraduate degree in Labor, Employment and Social Security Law from Instituto Tecnológico Autónomo de México in 2012. In addition, Mr. Alvarez obtained his Masters degree in Labor and Employment Law from the London School of Economics and Political Science in 2016. Mr. Alvarez has also completed several programs with regards to legal specialization from prestigious institutions such as Georgetown University and Ilustre y Nacional Colegio de Abogados de México.
