Career

Thomas Mueller-Gastell joined the firm in 1984 and was named partner in 1987. He has more than 40 years of experience advising domestic and foreign clients in financial transactions, including cross-border secured or unsecured loans, as well as derivatives and mergers and acquisitions. He is internationally recognized as a leader in project finance and infrastructure and energy in Mexico.

He has developed the energy and infrastructure practice of the firm participating in emblematic transactions in the areas of hydrocarbons and electricity, such as the Samalayuca project, which was the first power plant in Mexico built and financed with private equity in Mexico, the financing of the nitrogen production and injection plant for the Cantarell oil field and the development of a series of wind farms in the Oaxaca region. Before joining the Firm, Thomas worked at the legal departments of Siemens in Munich, BC Berlin Consult and Banco Nacional de México, and in 1987 as a foreign associate at White&Case, New York.
