The firm: ALN Nigeria | Aluko & Oyebode was established in 1993, by Bankole Olumide Aluko, SAN (1956-2002) and Gbenga Oyebode, MFR as a partnership of two and has over the years grown to become the largest law firm in Nigeria, with a partnership strength of 16 and associates of about 80. The firm’s main office is located in the financial and commercial ‘capital’ of Nigeria, Lagos, with other offices in Abuja (political capital) and Port-Harcourt (oil and gas hub). The firm offers fully integrated services to international, regional and local clients, and as the largest integrated law firm in Nigeria, the firm complements its corporate and commercial legal services with a robust litigation, arbitration and alternative dispute resolution (ADR) practice. ALN Nigeria | Aluko & Oyebode has a broad spectrum of lawyers that are trained and qualified not only in Nigeria, but also in England and New York. In addition lawyers also have industry experience as a number of the partners and associates have worked in financial institutions, oil and gas companies etc. prior to joining or upon returning to the firm.

The firm’s practice areas are divided into two main practice groups, corporate and commercial and dispute resolution and arbitration. our corporate and commercial practice comprises of the full range of transactional and advisory work, including M&A, private equity investments, refinancing, restructurings and joint ventures. The practice also provides highly commercial and practical advice across the full spectrum of financial products, including syndicated lending and leveraged and acquisition finance, asset finance, derivative products, project finance, financial regulatory, insolvency, restructuring and structured finance. These also include expertise in all aspects of private equity, from establishing the fund and making investments, to ongoing portfolio assistance, including restructuring advice, to exiting from those investments. The firm also has a very strong intellectual property practice that provides advice to clients on contentious and non-contentious issues relating to the protection and enforcement of their intellectual properties and rights, ie franchising, trade marks, patents, confidential information, design rights and copyright.

The dispute resolution and arbitration practice is made up of a team of seasoned litigators with experience in a wide range of areas: banking, competition and antitrust, derivatives and structured products, fraud and white-collar crime, insolvency, contentious tax, energy and infrastructure disputes, regulatory investigations, property and finance. The firm’s lawyers through arbitration and/or litigation work with clients to resolve disputes efficiently and effectively.
