Career
Iván joined Galicia in 2016 as a senior associate in the Administrative Litigation practice and was promoted to Counsel in 2025. With Iván’s wide range of experience, he has become an asset to the team.
His work is focused on administrative and judicial proceedings and constitutional control mechanisms, against acts of federal or state authorities of all kinds. His versatility as a litigator is reflected in his successful handling of cases in branches such as energy (electricity and hydrocarbons), environmental, urban development, finance and stock market, and recently he has ventured into litigation related with our TMT/IA practice. Iván constantly collaborates with the transactional and regulatory areas of the firm in highly specialized litigation.
Before joining the Firm, he worked as a litigator at a renowned Mexican law firm. He also did litigation internships for the Inter-American Human Rights System at the Mexican Ministry of Foreign Affairs and in recent years he collaborated for the United Nations in a research project on constitutional law.
He has been a visiting professor at Universidad Panamericana to lecture on Constitutional Law, Amparo and International Law.
Additionally, Iván has been recognized as a leading lawyer in renowned international publications such as The Legal 500, and has also contributed as an opinion leader in publications and podcasts on specialized topics in the Expert Focus section of Chambers and Partners and other training centers.

Education
Iván received his LL.B. with honorable mention at Universidad Panamericana (2011) and obtained a specialization in Administrative Law from the same university (2013). He holds an LL.M. in International Legal Studies from New York University School of Law (2016) and a diploma in Energy Law from Escuela Libre de Derecho (2021).
