Career

Hugo López Coll graduated with honors, from the Instituto Tecnológico Autonomo de Mexico (ITAM) and studied an LL.M. at Columbia Law School. He is admitted in New York and in Mexico. Mr. Lopez Coll has developed a broad practice representing domestic and international clients in Mexico on mergers and acquisitions, private equity, capital markets, regulatory and compliance matters, real estate, shareholders’ disputes and gaming issues.

Mr. Lopez Coll is also a member of a team of lawyers that constantly assist clients with issues arising under the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA), the OECD Convention and the UN Convention Against Corruption as well as the Mexican National Anticorruption System. He has represented foreign public companies in Latin America in the structuring, implementation and roll-out of FCPA policies and procedures, as well as with internal corporate investigations.

Mr. Lopez Coll is a course professor on credit transactions and negotiable instruments at the Universidad Iberoamericana. Mr. Lopez Coll is also a regular speaker and commentator at business seminars and conferences.

Mr. Lopez Coll has been highly recommended as a leading lawyer by many publications and editorials including Chambers and Partners (ranked Band 1 lawyer in Compliance) and Global Investigations Review (GIR).
