Career

Irely Aquique is a Partner at TMI Law and a leading lawyer specialized in Intellectual Property litigation, as well as Filings Patent, Copyright, Trademark and Filing.

She serves as the chair of the Intellectual Property Committee at the American Chamber of Commerce Mexico (Amcham)  and holds the position of Chair of the Litigation Affairs Committee at the Mexican Association for the Protection of Intellectual Property (AMPPI).

Before joining TMI, she held the role of Divisional Director of Intellectual Property Protection at the Mexican Institute of Industrial Property (IMPI). In this capacity, she supervised administrative proceedings pertaining to the nullification, expiration, and cancellation of distinctive signs and inventions. She also managed administrative declarations of infringement in matters concerning industrial property and copyright.

Ms. Aquique actively contributed to the Mexican delegation during negotiations for the IP chapters of various Free Trade Agreements, including the Trans-Pacific Partnership Agreement, the US-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA), and NAFTA.

She has been an active participant in international forums such as the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) and INTERPOL's IP Crime seminars.

Ms. Aquique has been invited as a speaker in seminars focusing on the prosecution of IP crimes, anti-counterfeiting activities, and online piracy.
