Career

Hans Lederer is a partner in the Intellectual Property Law Department. His expertise comprises strategic advice in connection with securing and enforcing trademark and design rights, managing international trademark and design portfolios, representing clients in application, opposition and cancellation proceedings before the Austrian Patent Office and the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO, and implementing cross-border measures to combat product piracy.

He also has extensive knowledge and many years of experience in copyright matters as well as moral rights and media law, and lectures on these topics at the University of Applied Sciences FH Burgenland. Furthermore, he regularly advises and represents clients in patent law matters, especially in connection with employee inventions.

He frequently publishes articles on trademark and copyright law in professional journals such as Österreichische Blätter für Gewerblichen Rechtsschutz und Urheberrecht (ÖBl) and Europäische Zeitschrift für Wirtschaftsrecht (EuZW).

Before joining CMS Vienna, Hans Lederer worked as a project manager and lawyer in the General Secretariat of the Austrian Red Cross. He studied law at the Universities of Innsbruck, Caen (France) and Vienna.
