Diversity

Ashtons Legal values diversity and inclusion. Our aim is that the composition of our workforce should reflect that of the community. This, in turn, can add to the quality and relevance of the legal services that we can offer to our clients.

The principle of non-discrimination and equality of opportunity is applied to all of our employees to help them in achieving their full potential, and equally to the treatment of our visitors, clients, customers and suppliers, by our employees.

To help achieve this goal, our Diversity and Inclusion Committee was founded in July 2019. The committee is made up of colleagues from all parts of the firm from a wide range of backgrounds. The committee arrange events throughout the year, often aligning with specific topics such as Women in Law, Disability Awareness and Pride Month. The introduction of gender pronouns is one example of how the committee has influenced firm-wide policy.

Ashtons is a Disability Confident Committed employer. The Disability Confident scheme is a government scheme that hopes to create inclusive workplaces. Disability Confident organisations play a leading role in changing attitudes for the better. They’re changing behaviour and cultures in their own businesses, networks, and communities and reaping the benefits of inclusive recruitment practices. Find out more about the scheme: Disability Confident Scheme.

We are also an official Endometriosis Friendly Employer.
