Chadri Jurnalis is a partner of Hanafiah Ponggawa & Partners (now Dentons HPRP). He joined the firm in 1995 and was made a partner in 2004. Prior to joining Dentons HPRP, Chadri was in charge of the legal department in a private bank where he gained extensive knowledge and experience in finance and banking. With his extensive knowledge in financial services related matters, Chadri has been playing key roles in a wide range of major transactions involving banks and non-bank financial institutions, both domestic and international corporations, among others: Bank Indonesia, PT Bank Mizuho Indonesia, PT Bank OCBC NISP, Tbk., PT Bank Syariah Mandiri, PT Bank Standard Chartered Indonesia, Jakarta Branch of Bangkok Bank Public Company Limited, ICD Islamic Development Bank (Islamic Corporation For the Development of Private Sector), and The Hongkong and Shanghai Banking Corporation (HSBC). Chadri has a depth of experience in dealing with Sharia related transactions. He has assisted significant deals with several clients who have brought him and the firm to achieve awards. Furthermore, Chadri has also represented clients from multiple industries covering plantations, mining, steel, manufacturing, construction, and consumer goods for various legal works including M&A, restructuring, and divestment, such as: PT Krakatau Steel (Persero), Tbk., PT Total Bangun Persada, Tbk., PT Kutilang Paksi Mas, PT Borneo Pacific, PT Anugrah Bara Kaltim, Crest Maritim Chartering Indian Ocean Ltd., and Reliance Group. Fabian Buddy Pascoal
Fabian Buddy Pascoal is a partner and one of the founding members of Hanafiah Ponggawa & Partners (now Dentons HPRP). Having joined the firm's predecessor in 1992, he was made a partner in 1999. He holds all three of the legal professional licenses recognised in Indonesa, being licensed as an Advocate, as a Capital Market Legal Counsel, and as an Intellectual Property Consultant. As a leading figure in Dentons HPRP, Fabian has played an important role in a wide range of significant transactions involving both domestic and international business in various types of work, such as foreign direct investment, mergers and acquisitions, corporate and debt restructuring, real estate, intellectual property rights, commercial litigation including arbitration, mining, and plantations, and serving as an Indonesian law expert witness in a number of cases in foreign courts and arbitration hearings. His notable achievements in board rooms and court rooms have been made possible by his submitting himself to classroom learning exposures at prestigious institutions. Fabian (a) graduated top of the class from the University of Indonesia in 1992, (b) earned a Master of Laws degree (LL.M.) by the University of California at Berkeley, School of Law, USA in 1998, and (c) is an alumnus of Indonesia’s highest national leadership course at the Indonesian Resilience Institute (LEMHANNAS RI) Class of 55 in 2016. He has been greatly benefited in another way by his past teaching services at the Faculty of Law, Universitas Pelita Harapan, Indonesia. His extended exposure to educational experience has proven to be a fruitful door opener to a more significant, relevant and joyful life. As much as he loves reading, he is equally thrilled and passionate to share his thoughts and experiences in writing, among others, in Asia Globe Magazine, a well-known Indonesian English language magazine and World Business Book – an annual business book published by World Bank, Washington D.C. The reading and writing activities are made whole with his valuable experience of public speaking. Several governmental authorities, associations, and corporations have extended to him the privilege of being a speaker at domestic and international forums and seminars. Fabian finds his life even more fulfilling with his public and social services, among others, as the Special Advisor to the Governor of North Sulawesi on Investment Matters, a member of the Board of Trustees of ASEAN People's Association in Los Angeles, California, US, and a member of the Board of Trustees and the Board of Management of several institutions, local and international. The shareholders of PT ORIX Indonesia Finance have trusted him to serve as the independent commissioner of that company, and the government of the Republic of Albania graciously found him to be the right choice to serve as the Honorary Consul of the Republic of Albania to Indonesia, providing him with the unique diplomatic privilege of representing a wonderful foreign country in his adorable home country. Giovanni Mofsol Muhammad
Giovanni Mofsol Muhammad is a partner of Hanafiah Ponggawa & Partners (now Dentons HPRP). Joining the firm when he graduated from Universitas Indonesia with a Bachelor of Law degree (S.H.), Giovanni was made a partner at HPRP in 2007. During his more than 20-year career as a corporate lawyer, Giovanni has gained expertise in corporate and commercial law covering Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) and Joint Ventures (JV), Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A), restructuring, divestment. In particular, Giovanni has worked with and represented numerous Indonesian Governments and State Owned Companies (BUMN). He assisted the Indonesian Ministry of Industry in the shares acquisition of PT INALUM (Indonesia Asahan Aluminium) and the Indonesian Ministry of Finance c.q. Government Investment Centre (PIP – Pusat Investasi Pemerintah) in the planned divestment of shares in PT Newmont Nusa Tenggara and several financing projects involving PT PLN (Persero), PT KAI (Persero), and PT INKA; provided legal reviews on the planned restructuring of 62 subsidiary and joint venture companies of PT Pertamina (Persero); assisted in acquisitions of shares in PT AXA Mandiri Financial Services by PT Bank Mandiri (Persero), Tbk. and in PT Bank Agroniaga, Tbk. by PT Bank Rakyat Indonesia (Persero), Tbk. (Bank BRI); assisted in the spin-off of assets and liabilities of PT PANN relating to its purposes and objectives and business activities in the field of maritime financing to its subsidiary company PT PANN Pembiayaan Maritim and the divestment of some shares owned by Kopelindo and Yabinstra as the controlling shareholders in PT Bank Bukopin, Tbk.; assisted PT PINS Indonesia – a subsidiary of PT Telkom (Persero) in acquiring PT Tiphone Mobile Indonesia, Tbk., and also various legal works for international companies such as Guangxi LiuGong Machinery Co., Ltd , Bridgestone Corporation, FJ Benjamin Holdings Ltd., TCL Electronic Group. Having in-depth knowledge in the resources and infrastructure practice area, Giovanni has assisted in power plant projects: including PT Indika Energy, Tbk., PT Kassa Listrindo, PT Universal Batam Energy, and PT Berkah Tirta Energi. He was also involved in shipping projects with ASL Marine Group, IMC Shipping, PSA Marine, and PT Pertamina Tongkang. In the plantation and mining sectors he has represented among others KLK Berhad, DCM Shriram Consolidated Ltd., Patni Projects Pvt Ltd., Anik Industries Limited, Bhoruka Overseas Limited, JSW Energy Limited, and MGM Investment Overseas. Linna Simamora
Linna Simamora is a partner in Hanafiah Ponggawa & Partners (now Dentons HPRP) and the head of the Employment & Litigation and the Intellectual Property practices in the firm. Linna is very experienced in employment and litigation practice with in-depth knowledge handling arbitration, business competition, civil, criminal, commercial (including bankruptcy and suspension of payment), family, industrial relations and employment matters, as well as state administrative court or non-court related cases assisting Indonesian and foreign individuals and entities in enforcing their rights and/or protecting their interests. Linna provides comprehensive legal work in various sectors such as airlines, consumer goods, entertainment, IT, mining, plantations, pharmaceuticals, and telecommunications, from serving demand notices, filing police reports and assisting during the examination in police proceedings, drafting and filing business competition, civil, criminal, bankruptcy and/or suspension of payment, employment, religious, and/or state administrative pleadings as well as for arbitration, appearing in the relevant courts, representing creditors or debtors at creditors’ meetings in bankruptcy and/or suspension of payment hearings, appearing before arbitration tribunals, and negotiating with opposite parties at any stage of the proceedings. As the head of the Intellectual Property practice, Linna advises clients on strategic protection and commercialization of their intellectual property rights, including registration of trade and/or service marks, registration of copyrights, objections against marks clients feel could be damaging to their own marks, litigation against infringers of intellectual property rights or defending against accusation on infringement, negotiations of settlements, and negotiation of licensing and franchise agreements, and liaising with authorities in conducting raid of counterfeit products and parallel imports. Since starting her career in HPRP in 1996, Linna has also been involving in various corporate related matters representing clients in relation to their investment and business operations in Indonesia, including in the establishment of presence and JV, M&A, restructuring, and asset/land acquisition. Linna holds a Bachelor of Law degree from Universitas Indonesia and pursued her master's degree in law at the National University of Singapore (NUS). Linna is a registered Advocate in PERADI (Indonesian Advocate Association) allowing her to practice law within the territory of the Republic of Indonesia and also a registered Administrator/KURATOR in the Ministry of Legal and Human Rights and member of Indonesian Association of Bankruptcy Trustees and Administrators (Asosiasi Kurator dan Pengurus Indonesia or AKPI). She is also an Indonesia IP (Intellectual Property) Consultant registered in the Directorate General of Intellectual Property Rights, Ministry of Law and Human Rights, as well as a registered Indonesian Capital Markets Legal Counsel.
