Senior Associate

Matthias De Cock is a senior associate in the Banking and Finance practice in Brussels, registered with the Brussels Bar.

Having a particular focus on financial services, Matthias regularly advises on the full range of financial regulation, FSMA and NBB compliance and the regulatory aspects of financial and corporate transactions, including (i) investment funds; (ii) investment services and activities, incl. market infrastructures, custodians, clearing and central counterparties; (iii) FinTech, digital finance, blockchain and crowdfunding; (iv) capital raising (prospectus, information notes and PRIIPs); (v) securitization; (vi) banking law and capital requirements; (vii) payment services; (viii) consumer and mortgage credit law; (ix) anti-money laundering; and (x) sustainable finance.

His clients consist of domestic and foreign financial institutions, major corporates, and start-ups active in the financial sector.

Prior to joining Dentons, Matthias gained professional experience working at an independent Belgian law firm and at the Ministry of Economic Affairs, one of Belgium’s regulators.

Matthias holds a Bachelor of Laws from the Université de Namur and a Master of Laws from the Katholieke Universiteit Leuven.
