Beck Greener at a Glance: Beck Greener is a leading UK and European intellectual property firm and has been protecting inventions, trade marks, designs and other intellectual property for over 150 years. Known for the high quality of its client service, it operates from offices in the heart of London and close to the EUIPO in Spain, from where its experts offer high quality advice across the spectrum of intellectual property services. Whatever the area, from protecting UK and EU trade marks and registered and unregistered designs post-Brexit, to handling contentious and non-contentious work connected with patents or copyrights, Beck Greener’s talented attorneys offer top-class, pragmatic advice tailored to client needs.

Beck Greener’s approach to client service: At Beck Greener we are immensely proud of our high client retention rates, having served many businesses for over 40 years. These include world-leading companies from sectors like media, technology and AI, life sciences, chemicals and engineering. Many of these are globally significant brand owners listed on the S&P 500, FTSE 100 and Fortune 500. However, we are just as proud of our work for SMEs, start-ups, individual inventors, and other business owners across a wide range of sectors. The team is particularly strong on cross-border work, and serves many clients based in the US, Europe and Asia.

These clients keep returning to Beck Greener because they appreciate our practical approach, commitment to understanding their businesses and dedication to helping them solve their toughest challenges. They also value a ‘boutique’ style, which makes impressive use of technology to combine partner-led personal service with lean, cost-effective staffing. So, regardless of the size or field of your business, we will provide a service designed to meet your needs.

Principal areas of work
Patents:  The firm’s patent practice is divided into three groups, covering chemistry, pharmaceutical and chemical engineering; the medical and life sciences sectors; and mechanical, engineering, physics and digital patents.

In each of these fields, Beck Greener’s patent attorneys draft, file and prosecute patent applications in the UK, throughout Europe and internationally. With our strong grasp of market conditions and the approaches of different administrative bodies, we routinely help clients to protect and exploit their inventions. The firm also has a strong track record in patent opposition and appeals before the European Patent Office.

Trade marks and copyright: Providing the full range of services relating to registered and unregistered trade marks, Beck Greener files and prosecutes trade mark applications in the UK, Europe and globally for some of the world’s biggest brands. As one of the largest filers of new trade mark applications in the UK, as well as one of the UK’s largest filers of EU trade mark applications, we have experience of advising leading players from a wide variety of business sectors.

A number of Beck Greener’s attorneys also have expertise in copyright, as befits a firm working at the heart of the media and entertainment sector. The team is also skilled at dealing with the commercial aspects of trade marks, including licensing, assignments, and drafting and negotiating settlement agreements.

IP disputes: Beck Greener is especially renowned for our outstanding record of success in litigation and contentious proceedings relating to trade mark, design and copyright matters in the UK courts and beyond. This is supported by research showing that, for example, our partners have appeared in the Top Ten list of trade mark attorneys and solicitors by appearance at hearings before the UK IPO.

Designs: Acting for large companies in design-sensitive areas, Beck Greener fields an experienced team with considerable experience of filing Community and UK registered design applications. We have had numerous successes on behalf of clients relating to the enforcement of their registered and unregistered design rights, avoiding the need for costly litigation whilst ensuring their rights are respected.
