Career

Lindsay Macdonald, Senior Associate, joined Drummond Miller LLP’s Edinburgh based Clinical Negligence practice in September 2019.

Prior to this, Lindsay completed her traineeship at a well renowned global law firm at which she continued to work post-qualification, spending a year working overseas in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. Lindsay qualified in 2017, having attained her Diploma in Professional Legal Practice, Masters in Criminology and Criminal Justice and Bachelor of Laws with Honours law degree, all from the University of Edinburgh.

Lindsay accepts instructions solely on behalf of Pursuers in respect of all aspects of clinical negligence including surgical errors, missed diagnoses and birth damage.  In addition, Lindsay also has experience in investigating and litigating complex personal injury claims.  Lindsay pursues claims in both the All Scotland Sheriff Personal Injury Court and Court of Session against a range of individuals/bodies including GPs, Surgeons, Nurses, Dentists and Care and Nursing Homes.

Lindsay frequently accepts instructions for court agency work from other law firms/solicitors in cases which require to be litigated.

In addition to representing individuals, Lindsay has experience in dealing with and successfully settling fatal claims brought by family members whose relation has passed as a result of clinical negligence.

Lindsay recognises that being involved in litigation is inherently distressing for not only the individual(s) giving instructions but often those close to them too. Lindsay strives to ensure that those instructing her understand the various steps involved in investigating and where appropriate, raising a claim, and are given clear, practical, advice and updates throughout the process to try to minimise any stress for them and their families.
