Miranda Becher is a Partner in the Litigation Department, with 25 years’ experience, specialising in personal injury and clinical negligence claims, primarily in the Court of Session.

She represented the pursuer in the first damages claim for rape in Scotland in the case of DC v DG & DR [2017] CSOH 5; [2017] CSIH 72, succeeding at Proof and resisting an appeal.

A number of her cases have been decided in the House of Lords (now the UK Supreme Court), and have clarified or restated the law relating to personal injury matters for legal practitioners across the UK, e.g. Simmons v British Steel [2004] UKHL 20; Spencer-Franks v Kellogg Brown & Root & Ors [2008] UKHL 46, Mitchell v Glasgow City Council [2009] UKHL 11.

Renowned for her attention to detail, Miranda is rigorous in the investigation and prosecution of her client’s claims. Over the last few years, she has increasingly dealt with catastrophic injury cases and delay in diagnosis of cancer cases, as well as representing 170 clients in product liability/medical negligence claims arising from the implantation of transvaginal mesh products.

Miranda is accredited by the Law Society of Scotland as a specialist in Personal Injury Law and by APIL (Association of Personal Injury Lawyers) as a Senior Litigator.
