Best known for its tax litigation group, Acedo, Santamarina, S.C acts on a range of contentious tax matters for a client base that evidences a particularly strong showing in the industrial engineering, automobile, clean energy, food and drink, real estate and telecoms sectors. While this side of the practice area is a longstanding strength of the firm, more recently it had increasingly been instructed as day-to-day tax counsel and in relation to audits. However, following the August 2024 departure of former practice head Rafael Tena, and the subsequent departure of associate Mauricio Iturralde Punzo (who had joined from Foley & Lardner LLP in September 2023), the practice is now being overseen by founding partner Pedro Santamarina, whose practice includes experience in succession planning.
