Collas Crill
Stephen is Managing Partner and head of the Dispute Resolution department in the Cayman Islands. He has a demonstrated history of advocacy in the practice of corporate and commercial litigation, with an emphasis on offshore insolvency and restructuring of companies. Stephen's practice has a strong focus on company law including corporate insolvency; schemes of arrangements; capital reductions; shareholder disputes; director's liability; international asset tracing; the enforcement of foreign judgments; worldwide Mareva injunctions, Anton Piller orders, and Norwich Pharmacal orders. Stephen has significant contentious litigation experience arising from the representation of both liquidators, shareholders and creditors of companies and hedge funds including the claw back of fraudulent conveyances and undue preferences, allegations of investment fraud and investment manager disputes. Since his appointment as Head of Dispute Resolution, Stephen has grown the team from two to eight lawyers, all with a strong background in insolvency and restructuring matters. Prior to joining the firm Stephen spent two and a half years in Miami as a member of a boutique litigation firm in the United States which focused on cross border insolvency and trust disputes.

Caroline advises on all aspects of cross border and domestic insolvency and restructuring issues, in particular contentious and non-contentious restructurings, liquidations, schemes of arrangement and fund wind downs. She advises debtors and key stakeholders in financially distressed circumstances, including banks, funds, bondholders, directors, investors and insolvency practitioners. Luke Stockdale

Luke is a partner of Maples and Calder's Dispute Resolution & Insolvency team in the Maples Group's Cayman Islands office.  He has a broad range of experience in commercial litigation, arbitration and restructuring and insolvency matters, with a particular emphasis on complex and multi-jurisdictional cases.  Luke also has considerable experience in banking and finance and investment fund disputes, company law and trust disputes and regularly advises financial institutions, investors and insolvency practitioners on contentious matters and insolvencies.

Simon is instructed by financial institutions in respect of the largest and most complex disputes currently before the Courts and is currently instructed in the Fidelity National appraisal and in several other forthcoming matters. Last year he successfully led a multi-disciplinary team in the Nord Anglia s.238 fair value appraisal trial, winning a judgment in excess of US$130 million. In the last decade, Simon has acted in most of the major insolvency matters including Madoff, Sphinx, Belmont and DD Growth and currently act for the for creditors in the liquidations of Platinum Partners, the Direct Lending Income Fund and the collapse of the Abraaj Group. He led the team in the Arcapita Bank restructuring and has advised in other high profile matters including Zohar Funds, Luckin Coffee, China Fishery Group, Ocean Rig and Founding Partners.

Over the last 13 years Peter has acted in many of the largest and most complex cases to be litigated in the Cayman Islands.  Peter acts for the Algosaibi family in their on-going claims against Maan Al Sanea and his companies, successfully obtaining a US$2.5 billion judgment against Mr Al Sanea and settling certain claims. He also acts for the liquidators of the Madoff impacted Primeo fund, in successful resolving litigation against the Trustee in New York and the Cayman Islands, the investment manager, the Herald feeder fund – where the Privy Council has found in favour of Primeo on both the creditor and shareholder distribution issues - and in the on-going litigation against the administrator and custodian.Peter has acted in a number of precedent setting fund liquidations (including Lancelot, Belmont and Heriot), large fraud cases (including Madoff, Dynamic Decisions, Fletcher and Alpha Re) and high profile restructurings (including Arcapita, CEVA, Eircom, Ocean Rig and Tailored Brands). He is regularly instructed to make urgent applications to obtain interim relief and/or to appoint provisional liquidators/receivers.

Jennifer has extensive experience advising on various issues arising in complex cross-border insolvencies, most notably arising from her engagement by the provisional liquidators to a number of Lehman Brothers entities in the Asia-Pacific region, and more recently in connection with the liquidation of Caledonian Bank Limited.   Jennifer has assisted in advising on restructurings of SIVs, RMBS vehicles and other structured products adversely affected by the financial and liquidity crises touching on a range of jurisdictions. Related to her insolvency work, Jennifer has regularly advised on matters concerning asset-tracing and recovery. Prior to moving to Cayman, Jennifer worked at Mayer Brown JSM, Hong Kong in their Asian restructuring team. Before moving to Hong Kong in 2012, Jennifer was a senior associate in London specialising in contentious insolvency matters, having joined Mayer Brown International LLP in 2007 following completion of pupillage at South Square Chambers.
