Adrian Burke

Adrian Burke is a partner in A&L Goodbody's Finance Group. Adrian's main practice areas are banking, structured finance, securitisations and capital markets. Adrian advises leading Irish and international financial institutions as well as borrowers across the full range of financing transactions. He has particular expertise in syndicated lending, debt capital markets, securitisation, loan portfolio sales, restructuring, derivatives and regulatory capital.

Alan McCarthy

Alan McCarthy is a partner in A&L Goodbody's EU, Competition & Procurement group. Alan has represented clients in a range of sectors including telecommunications, aviation, banking, insurance, healthcare, food, beverages and petroleum before the Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (CCPC) and the European Commission. He specialises in advice on the competition law implications of mergers and joint ventures. He has advised on many of the recent mergers notified to the CCPC (including mergers that have been investigated in Phase 2 of the CCPC's merger procedures) and on mergers notified to the European Commission. Alan also specialises in advice on competition law enforcement issues (such as leniency applications, dawn raids, compliance programmes and competition law litigation) as well as complaints to the CCPC and the European Commission. Alan also advises on EU competition law follow-on damages actions in the Irish Courts. He has significant sectoral regulatory experience, particularly in the telecommunications and energy sectors in Ireland. In addition, he advises on a wide range of other EU law matters such as State aid.

Alan Roberts

Alan Roberts is a Partner in and joint Head of A&L Goodbody's Environmental & Planning Group. Alan advises on contentious and non-contentious environmental and planning work. He works closely with the Energy & Natural Resources, Commercial Property and M&A Groups. Alan also advises on interaction with regulatory enforcement agencies, third party liability claims, contaminated land clean up and the defence of environmental and health & safety prosecutions. In particular, he has specialist experience advising in relation to the development, operation and funding of renewable energy projects.

Alan Casey

Alan Casey is a partner and Head of A&L Goodbody's Corporate department. He advises leading Irish and multi-national public and private companies across a broad range of Mergers & Acquisitions, Governance and Equity Capital Markets issues. Alan has extensive experience in cross-border transactions, particularly in public M&A and ECM mandates and has advised on many of the largest corporate transactions in Irish history. Alan's practice also involves advising boards of public companies on shareholder activism mandates and other governance mandates. Alison Fanagan

Alison Fanagan is a consultant in A&L Goodbody's Litigation department and a former partner of the firm, with over 28 years' experience. She is joint Head of the Environmental and Planning group, and provides specialist advice on all aspects of planning, environmental and health and safety law both contentious and non-contentious. Alison is also an experienced commercial litigator, with a particular focus on judicial review. Alison advises on the defence of criminal prosecutions, on taking and defending claims for negligence and nuisance, and on all aspects of planning injunctions. She advises buyers, sellers and funders on due diligence and has a particular expertise in renewable energy projects including both onshore and offshore wind.

Andrew Sheridan is a partner in A&L Goodbody's Commercial & Technology group. Anna-Marie Curran is a partner in A&L Goodbody's EU, Competition & Procurement group. Anna-Marie advises a wide range of clients across contentious and non-contentious competition law and procurement law matters. Aoife Malone

Aoife Malone is a senior associate in A&L Goodbody's Pensions group and has been with the firm for over 10 years. Aoife advises employers and trustees across a number of business and industry sectors on their occupational pension schemes, permanent health and death in service arrangements. Brian McDermott is Head of the A&L Goodbody Asset Management & Investment Funds Group. He has extensive experience in the structuring, establishment and authorisation of all types of investment funds including UCITS, AIFs and non-regulated funds. In addition to advising the promoters and investment managers of such funds, he advises fund investors, fund directors and fund service providers on relevant Irish law, regulation and market practice. David Francis

David Francis has more than 15 years' experience of advising on pensions-related matters. He advises companies and trustees on all legal issues affecting their defined benefit and defined contribution pension plans. His expertise ranges from the establishment of plans (including plan design, documentation, administration, compliance, investment and cross-border pension issues) through to advising on funding, merging, pension benefit changes, liability management exercises, restructuring and winding up. James Grennan

James Grennan is a partner in A&L Goodbody's Corporate department and Head of the Insurance group. From 1995 to 1999 James managed A&L Goodbody’s London office. His area of particular expertise is the insurance industry. His practice embraces all aspects of insurance law and regulation including the set up and authorisation of insurers, ongoing regulation, the provision of cross-border services, sale and purchase of insurance companies and insurance businesses, captive insurance, authorisation and regulation of insurance intermediaries, contracts, regulatory investigations and enforcement actions and statutory compensation schemes. He advises life and non-life insurers, health insurers, reinsurers, captives and intermediaries. He played a major role in the A&L Goodbody legal team that advised the Irish Government’s Department of Finance on the establishment of the Irish Financial Regulator. He was also instrumental in having Irish law amended to facilitate the operations of life assurers in the International Financial Services Centre and in drafting other legislation to address insurance industry concerns. John Dallas

John Dallas is a Partner in the Energy, Infrastructure and Natural Resources and Projects Groups. He has extensive experience advising sponsors, lenders and developers on the financing and construction of large scale infrastructure projects, particularly in the energy sector. John also advises on the acquisition and sale of large scale infrastructure projects and on joint ventures within the infrastructure sector. In addition, he advises on regulatory matters in the energy sector.

John Whelan

John Whelan is a partner and Head of A&L Goodbody's Commercial & Technology group. John advises clients on contentious and regulatory matters and investigations with a focus within the technology and pharma sectors, and specifically on privacy, IP (patents), and telecoms regulation. He has been involved in many of the most significant litigation cases in these areas that have come before the Irish courts over the last 20 years. Before joining A&L Goodbody as a partner, John worked with Freshfields in London and Hong Kong. He previously headed up A&L Goodbody’s US offices in San Francisco and Palo Alto.

John Coman

John Coman is a Partner in the Corporate and M&A practice and also leads the Firm's Inward Investment team. John's areas of practice include mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, inward investment and general corporate work including corporate governance. He joined A&L Goodbody in 1989 and became a Partner in 1995. During 1993 and 1994, John managed the Firm's New York office.

Keavy also manages the firm's equity benefits group. Keavy advises on all aspects of share incentives including the treatment of share incentives in M&A transactions and corporate governance, regulatory and shareholder issues arising from the establishment and operation of share plans and executive remuneration programs. Kerill O'Shaughnessy

Kerill O'Shaughnessy is a partner in A&L Goodbody's Asset Management & Investment Funds Group. He acts for a range of funds, promoters and service providers and has extensive experience in advising on the establishment, authorisation and operation of all types of Irish investment funds including UCITS, QIAIFs, RIAIFs, fund of funds, master feeder structures and closed-ended funds. Kerill has advised on the authorisation and ongoing operation of a number of UCITS management companies, AIFMs and management companies established to manage both UCITS and AIFs (Super Mancos). Michael Barr

Patrick Brandt is a partner and head of A&L Goodbody's Financial Regulation team. Before joining ALG, Patrick led Skadden Arps London office's financial regulatory group. Paul White

Paul White is a partner in A&L Goodbody's Corporate and M&A group. Paul is a specialist in corporate and commercial law including equity capital markets, mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, corporate restructurings and corporate finance. He also regularly advises Boards on corporate governance and compliance issues. Paul Diggin

Paul Diggin is a Partner in the Commercial Property Department. Paul acts for large organisations managing extensive property portfolios, acquisitions and disposals of commercial property, leasing, portfolio acquisitions and disposals, development and corporate sales. Paul has broad practice encompassing all aspects of commercial real estate work and advises institutions, pension funds, property companies, financial institutions, overseas investors and international retailers.
