Soffía´s expertise is in the area of both tax and legal services, mainly M&A tax, domestic tax compliance, indirect taxes, real estate transactions and administrative law. Her client group consists mainly of real estate and retail companies, government, municipalities and fintech and financial companies.
Soffía has managed several very large legal and tax due diligence projects in various sectors, i.e. energy and industry, real estate and retail, IT, financial services and telecommunications. She has also experience in field of banking and liquidation procedures as well as restructuring projects for the Icelandic government.

Soffía Eydís Björgvinsdóttir has been an integral part of KPMG Law since 2003, advancing to Senior Tax Partner in 2017 and serving as the Head of Tax and Legal Services until 2023. Her long tenure and extensive experience in tax advisory have significantly contributed to the firm’s reputation in Iceland.
Professional Background: Before joining KPMG, Soffía worked with the Icelandic Tax Authorities for seven years, gaining a solid foundation in tax administration. Her transition to KPMG allowed her to apply this experience in private practice, where she has built a strong reputation for her expertise in various tax and legal matters.
