Hrafnkell's main areas of practice are in the field of corporate law, including corporate financing and mergers/acquisitions. In 2020, Hrafnkell provided advice in relation to the sale of the fisheries company Esjar ehf. to Hraðfrystihús Hellissands hf., and in the year prior he assisted in the acquisition of refrigeration specialist Kristján G. Gíslason hf. by Íshúsið and the takeover by Rammi hf. of fisheries company Sigurbjörn ehf.​

Furthermore, Hrafnkell has considerable experience in the conduct of legal due diligence work. In late 2020, he was i.a. involved in the legal DD of real estate business Heimavellir hf. in connection with its takeover by Heimstaden AB, and a legal DD of service station operator Löður/Dælan prior to its acquisition by the oil company Skeljungur hf.​

Hrafnkell has provided extensive advice and advocacy to public and private sector entities in various areas of public law, including administrative law and public procurement rules. In 2020, Hrafnkell was retained by the ministries for Environment and Industry & Innovation to conduct an inquiry into current enforcement practices in the fields of food safety and environmental controls. Hrafnkell has furthermore provided advice to i.a. Registers Iceland, Valitor, the Icelandic Road and Coastal Administration (IRCA), Business Iceland and Matís.​

Hrafnkell acts as KPMG´s Data Protection Officer and is an accredited privacy advisor (CIPP/E). In the run-up to the implementation of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) in Iceland as well as subsequently he has provided advice and training to a large number of entities, including Domino´s Pizza Iceland, Mentor, the Confederation of Icelandic Enterprises and the SL pension fund.​

Finally, Hrafnkell is active in the fields of intellectual property, European law and labour law.
