Anthony is an experienced Law Costs Draftsman and deals with a wide range of issues including Legal Aid, Private (Crime, Family, Immigration), civil litigation costs, costs budgeting and negotiations. Anthony also provides advocacy in costs and case management hearings, where his experience is invaluable.
He has considerable management experience dealing with issues such SRA compliance, LEXCEL accreditations and human resources. With over 45 years’ legal experience, Anthony brings a wealth of experience and knowledge of legal costs law, LAA Rules, Law Society and SRA Rules and Code of Conduct requirements.

Claire has over 35 years legal costs experience, mostly focused on opposing claims for costs in civil actions. Claire’s experience and expertise in many areas of legal costs is invaluable to our team and she acts on costs recovery, costs oppositions and provides advocacy. Claire continues to focus on opposing claims for costs in clinical negligence actions including preparing Points of Dispute and undertaking negotiations.
Dom is also a Costs Lawyer and member of the Association Costs Lawyers and has acted in many cases representing both Claimants and Defendants. Prior to working with Malcolm in Westminster from 1996, Dom spent several years in two of the City's premier law firms.
He has advised on various costs issues and acted in many cases opposing costs in civil actions as well as advising on the recovery of costs in the Court of Protection and Central Funds. He also advises clients throughout the litigation process, including costs budgeting and costs estimates. He particularly specialises in the opposition of costs in civil healthcare actions.
John has been working in legal costs for over 15 years and prior to that was office manager for a media law firm based in the West End. John primarily assists with the costs budgeting and costs management of civil healthcare claims in the multi-track. He prepares costs budgets, budget discussion reports and undertakes negotiations. When costs budgets cannot be agreed he will provide advocacy in costs and case management hearings and has represented clients in many courts all over England and Wales. John is also part of our bill drafting team and opposes claims for costs in civil healthcare litigation.
Laura joined Goodwin Malatesta in April 2016 and has over 20 years legal costing experience and qualified as a Costs Lawyer in 2014.
Laura is one of our leading bill drafters and prepares bills of costs for all aspect of legal costs recovery, including complex commercial litigation, healthcare and breakdowns of costs in solicitor and client fee disputes. Laura also drafts bills in the Court of Protection and for the recovery of Defendant’s costs in criminal proceedings and often uses her bill drafting expertise to assist with opposing claims for costs including the preparation of Points of Dispute.
Malcolm is an Accredited Costs Lawyer and member of the Association of Costs Lawyers with over forty years’ experience in the legal costs sector.
He is recognized as one of the leading individuals in the legal costs industry and has experience in a variety of legal costs issues, including opposing high value claims for costs, costs budgeting and fee disputes between solicitors and clients. With over 40 years’ experience, there is probably no type of legal issue that Malcolm has not encountered! He acts for a variety of clients ranging from individuals through to major institutions in the litigation funding sector. Malcolm has built a respected reputation by his achievements, especially in the healthcare sector when costs budgeting and opposing of costs in civil litigation and in particular clinical negligence and complex commercial actions. He is also an accredited trainer of the Association of Costs Lawyers and conducts seminars on various aspects of legal costs.
A former barristers’ clerk, Mark has considerable experience in a wide range of legal costs issues. He has acted on behalf of many local government authorities and major institutions during his career and has attended many detailed assessment hearings, particularly in the Senior Court Costs Office.
Mark specializes in costs budgeting and management where his clients benefit from his expertise to minimize their expose to costs. He also specializes in high value and complex commercial legal costs disputes both nationally and internationally.
Scott is a Costs Lawyer with over 30 years’ experience, all of which were spent within leading legal costs practices in the industry.
Scott focuses largely on the opposition of claims for costs in clinical negligence proceedings, an area of costs law in which he has built a reputation over many years as one of the most experienced and knowledgeable Costs Lawyers in that field of expertise.
