Position

Malcolm is a Royds Withy King partner and heads up the Employment team. He is frequently recognised for his talent in providing clients with practical commercial advice in his specialist area of employment law.

Clients value Malcolm’s ability to “dispel complexity and reduce challenging scenarios to simple and ordered next steps” and he is praised for his business acumen and pragmatism.

Recognised widely as an excellent public speaker, Malcolm frequently delivers seminars and training sessions to clients, HR professionals and businesses on a wide range of topics.

Malcolm handles all aspects of employment law and is a keen Tribunal Advocate. His recent work includes:

advising on three linked multiparty Employment Tribunal claims valued at around £1m brought by 70 Claimants involving complicated TUPE and trade union issues assisting a global technology leader for biomedical and industrial applications in defending claims for race discrimination and unfair dismissal guiding a large US company with a restructure of its European subsidiaries, including assessing the impact of the proposals and risk assessing the potential outcomes advising on the strategic restructure of a business following an acquisition by venture capitalists with a view to exit involving TUPE transfers, large scale redundancies and careful positioning with a trade union.
