About

The firm:   Gordons Partnership was founded in 1993 by three lawyers from leading City practices.  The firm has since grown both organically and by merging with other firms to become a 18-partner firm with offices in London and Guildford with over 60 employees.  Our corporate, commercial, commercial property and dispute resolution work is handled primarily in our London office and our family, healthcare law, health and social care, private wealth and residential property work is handled primarily in our Guildford office.

Gordons Partnership is an active member of The United Legal Network (ULN) which was founded in April 2000. It is an expanding association of European lawyers who meet twice a year to facilitate business between members but also to promote its members in legal business through out Europe.

Healthcare: The healthcare department, based in Guildford, was established by Charles Atkins in 2007 and has since grown to 14 fee-earners, including five partners. We defend clinical negligence claims, complaints, disciplinary proceedings and allegations of professional misconduct. We provide representation for clinicians at coroners’ inquests and public inquiries. The healthcare department comprises a formidable team of specialist, defendant solicitors which allows it consistently to punch well above its weight.

The healthcare department defends clinicians in complex clinical negligence claims, disciplinary proceedings and regulatory matters. It excels in defendant medical claims and advisory/regulatory law. The team acts on behalf of private individuals, private healthcare providers, insurers and a leading medical defence organisation.

Health and social care:   Neil Grant and his team act for providers of health and social care services across England and Wales. The range of services we cover, across both private and public sectors, include Hospitals, Community Health, Mental Health, GP and Dental Practices, Care Homes, Homecare, Supported Living and Children’s Homes. We advise on the full range of operational and transactional issues affecting care providers including responding to draft inspection reports, all types of enforcement action, safeguarding enquiries, contract disputes (including fees and embargoes), employment law and the sale and acquisition of care businesses.

Regulation:  We advise doctors, dentists, pharmacists and other healthcare professionals on every aspect of their professional life including regulatory issues, professional misconduct investigations and primary care and disciplinary issues. The team advises and represents doctors and dentists for a leading medical defence organisation on regulatory and professional conduct issues, including representation before the MPTS, GMC, GDC, at the police station and Coroners’ court. The regulatory team also acts on behalf of private individuals.

Commercial:  We advise on a wide range of general commercial contractual matters including terms of trading, e-commerce outsourcing, franchising, licensing, consumer protection, trade regulation and supply, procurement and distribution contracts.

Commercial dispute resolution:  We advise on prosecuting and defending litigation including dealing with general disputes, international trade and commodities disputes, bankruptcy and insolvency, corporate and shareholder disputes, consumer and property disputes, professional negligence claims and enforcement of judgments.

Commercial real estate:  We provide a comprehensive and practical service covering all aspects of commercial real estate law including sales and purchases, options, commercial lending, retail leasing, office leasing, statutory utility and development work. The team has a wealth of experience in acting for major landowners (including utility companies and local authorities), lending banks, household name retailers, small and medium-size enterprises and start-ups.

Corporate and finance:  We advise on all aspects of public and private corporate law from incorporations of  a business to complex M&A and finance transactions.  Our work includes dealing with acquisitions and disposals, management buy-outs and buy-ins, joint ventures, corporate reorganisations and public takeovers. The corporate department’s clients range from household names to owner-managed businesses and start-ups.

Employment:  We advise on all aspects of employment law including employee benefits, discrimination, disciplinary hearings, dismissal and statutory and common law rights, all aspects of TUPE and corporate restructuring.  We can negotiate severance arrangements and we can bring and defend claims at the employment tribunal.

Family law and private children work:  Julia Frimond and her staff provide advice on all aspects of family law and relationship breakdown, including divorce and separation, whether of married, cohabiting or civil partners.   We also advise on pre-nuptial, postnuptial or co-habitation  agreements, financial settlements and international relocation and occupation and much more.

Private client:  We advise on all aspects of estate administration including the making of Lasting Powers of Attorney, drafting of wills and dealing of probate. We also advise on the important aspect of inheritance tax and trust planning and administration.

Residential conveyancing: The residential conveyancing department (based in Guildford) provides a thorough, high-quality service for individual clients, both nationally and internationally, and for a range of lenders as panel solicitors. The team of lawyers deal with freehold and leasehold conveyancing including assignment of new build contracts.
