Bryony Bird

Bryony specialises in debt capital markets and structured finance transactions for a range of clients including global financial institutions, private equity firms and issuers. She has acted on a number of transactions with leading law firms in London which include high-yield and private placement issuances, securitisations and the issue of convertible bonds. Bryony has extensive experience in listing securities on The International Stock Exchange including high-yield bonds, asset-backed securities and variable funding notes. She has also advised on a range of banking and finance deals involving Jersey vehicles.

Colin Masterton

Colin is a counsel at Carey Olsen advising on corporate, real estate finance and investment funds matters. He has acted on a number of corporate and real estate transactions involving Jersey vehicles for leading banks, private equity houses and FTSE 100 companies, and also has experience of public company work. Colin provides funds, fund service providers and fund promoters with advice on all aspects of the establishment, regulation and operation of investment funds and fund service providers in Jersey.

Jasmine Amaria

Jasmine is a partner in Carey Olsen's corporate practice, based in London.Jasmine advises on both BVI and Cayman Islands corporate law and has significant experience in investment funds and corporate and finance matters, including fund formation, fund financing, general corporate transactions, mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures and shareholder arrangements as well as group reorganisations and restructurings. She also advises investment and private equity funds on distressed situations.Jasmine regularly advises Indian companies and clients, as well as those looking to make foreign investments into India.

Jonathan Marion

Jonathan is an associate in Carey Olsen's dispute resolution and litigation practice based in London. Jonathan assists with a broad range of civil and commercial disputes, including all aspects of offshore commercial and trust litigation with a specific focus on arbitration, enforcement and insolvency issues, including out of court administrative and regulatory disputes. He also assists the private wealth practice of Carey Olsen Bermuda and is interested in various non-contentious trust and estate planning matters. Jonathan is registered with the Bermuda branch of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP) as a STEP student and is undertaking the necessary courses to become a STEP Member.

Lauren Gray

Lauren is a senior associate in the corporate team of our London office. Lauren's recent transactions include advising: the ad hoc group of creditors in relation to the debt-for-equity restructuring of Pizza Express, the UK and international casual dining group; and Lloyds Bank Corporate Markets plc in relation to a £200m facility to a UK real estate property fund.

Lizzie Chamberlain

Lizzie acts for a varied client base on both the lender and borrower side of a range of debt finance transactions including real estate investment and development finance, investment funds financing and general corporate facilities. Lizzie supports her clients with deal structuring, acquisitions, refinancing and debt restructuring.

Matthew Brehaut

Matt is a partner in the corporate team in Carey Olsen’s London office. He advises on corporate and investment funds matters, with particular experience in the structuring and launch of investment funds. Matt provides funds, fund service providers and fund promoters with advice on all aspects of the establishment, regulation and operation of investment funds.

Nina Clift

Nina is a senior associate within the trusts and private wealth group and advises high net worth clients and trustees with regard to the establishment and administration of offshore trusts. Nina deals with all aspects of fiduciary law and provides advice on contentious and non-contentious trust and probate matters. She also prepares wills and advises on wealth planning and estate administration for local and international clients.

Richard Brown

Richard is a partner practising BVI law from Carey Olsen’s London office. Richard's practise encompasses all aspects of BVI commercial disputes, but with a focus on insolvency and security enforcement, fraud and asset recovery, shareholder disputes and contentious trust matters. Richard has particular experience of obtaining interlocutory applications such as freezing injunctions and Norwich Pharmacal orders, often in support of foreign court proceedings or arbitrations. Richard's location in London enables him to advise clients in the EMEA region in a convenient time zone, and he works closely with the BVI-based litigation team to provide a seamless service to clients. Richard is a solicitor advocate and has successfully represented clients as advocate in matters before both the BVI Commercial Court and the Eastern Caribbean Court of Appeal.

Sukhvinder Chana

Sukhvinder is a senior associate in the corporate and finance group. Sukhvinder advises on a broad range of finance and corporate matters in Guernsey with a focus on real estate finance, acquisition finance and structured finance. On the corporate side, Sukhvinder advises on acquisitions and disposals, corporate restructurings, amalgamations and migrations as well as advising on the regulatory laws underpinning these transactions.  Sukhvinder also advises on local law financings acting as lead Guernsey counsel and regularly advises foreign banks on the Guernsey regulatory regime applicable to the promotion of goods and services in Guernsey.

Suzanne Kingston

Suzanne is a consultant in the family law team. Formerly a partner at Withers LLP Suzanne has more than 30 years’ experience as a family lawyer. She advises and supports clients on a wide range of issues including complex financial matters, children arrangements following separation or divorce, prenuptial agreements and cohabitation matters. Suzanne is ranked as a leading individual in the Legal 500 for Family and Family Mediation and as a band one practitioner in Chambers High Net Worth. She was also voted Spear’s Wealth Management Family Lawyer of the Year in 2015. Known as the 'Queen of mediation and arbitration', Suzanne is an accredited mediator and arbitrator (qualified in England and Wales) and teaches both disciplines. She has been credited with spearheading the Family Law Arbitration Scheme in England and Wales and has taught all over the world. Suzanne has a large international practice and is very involved with the International Academy of Family Lawyers.

Tim Baildam

Tim is a senior associate in Carey Olsen's dispute resolution and insolvency team in London. He advises on all aspects of commercial, insolvency and general banking litigation.

Tim Wright

Tim is a partner in Carey Olsen's British Virgin Islands (BVI) Dispute Resolution and Litigation team, practising BVI law from Carey Olsen’s London office. Tim previously worked for Carey Olsen in the BVI and re-joined the firm in December 2020 having been head of litigation at another offshore law firm. Tim advises on a wide range of litigation and insolvency matters drawing on his broad onshore and offshore experience. He is a Solicitor Advocate and Barrister and regularly appears in Court. Tim's recent work in the BVI has focused on cross-border fraud and asset tracing, and all forms corporate insolvency work, including liquidation. Tim has particular experience in acting for and against liquidators, in shareholder disputes and unfair prejudice petitions, trust disputes and fraud work, and complex multi-jurisdictional cases emanating especially from Russia/CIS and China. He is regularly instructed on an emergency basis in relation to interim remedies such as freezing injunctions, the appointment of receivers, and Norwich Pharmacal relief (third party disclosure orders).
