hausfeld.comhausfeld.comAbout
The firm: Hausfeld is a specialist litigation practice, resolving legal disputes globally with a bold and often pioneering approach. Working alongside our clients, we shape law and transform legal practice with new ideas. Our ability to embrace flexible fee structures and case funding, enables our clients to pursue dispute resolution with no or limited legal cost risk or up-front financial burden. The firm’s largely conflict-free platform means that it can take instructions where other firms cannot. We have considerable expertise in doing so for complex, high value disputes and our opponents are typically Magic/Silver Circle and top US firms.
We bring a visionary yet pragmatic approach to resolving claims, whether for a single client or a group working collectively. Our lawyers act for businesses, public entities, charities, institutional investors, shareholders, and individuals across the areas of antitrust/competition, commercial and financial disputes, environmental law, product liability, human rights and technology and data breach issues. With offices across the US and Europe, we have won landmark trials, negotiated complex settlements, and recovered billions for clients - often after hard-fought litigation against the biggest names in the legal market.
Socially minded and champions for the best corporate governance, we are proud to be at the forefront of the legal profession in improving access to justice for both individuals and businesses. That makes for a profoundly different law firm.

Types of work undertaken
Competition/antitrust: Hausfeld is widely recognised as the market-leading claimant practice for European cartel damages claims. Our dedicated competition damages actions team — the largest in Europe — has been involved in more recoveries than any other firm. It is one of the few claimant firms with substantive experience in taking cartel damage claims to trial. It has the strongest antitrust automotive practice in Europe and offers in-depth expertise on the cross-over of IP and antitrust, having taken on some of the largest tech companies in the world. The team won the ‘Innovation in Legal Expertise – Dispute Resolution’ award at the FT Innovative Lawyer Awards 2018 for its innovation on managing the Trucks litigation and Legal Business Awards 2019 shortlisted us as ’Competition Team of the Year’ for their work on the Bearings cartel.
Commercial and financial disputes: Hausfeld’s commercial disputes team has an excellent track record in litigating complex, high value disputes, often with an international or multi-jurisdictional angle. The team has challenged some of the best known financial institutions worldwide and regularly receives referral work from some of the most recognised legal names when they are conflicted. For example, it was instructed on a number of the highest profile banking litigation cases arising out of LIBOR manipulation and interest rate swap mis-selling. In more recent years, the practice has grown and evolved and is now a go to firm for large corporate v corporate disputes.
Human rights/environmental and product liability: ‘Righting a wrong’ lies at the heart of what we do. The team litigates and advises individuals and groups who have suffered human rights and/or environmental harms. Furthermore, we are experts in managing individual and group product liability claims across a range of sectors, including defective medical devices, pharmaceuticals and environmental damage. The firm also works extensively on climate justice. In 2021, the team won the ’Innovation in Sustainability & ESG’ award at the FT Innovative Lawyers Europe Awards and before that it had been shortlisted for The Law Society Legal Excellence Awards 2019 in the ‘Access to Justice’ category for its work for #FreePeriods.
Technology and data breach: Our team has notable expertise in resolving complex technology disputes. Our cross-practice group draws together specialist lawyers from our market leading antitrust/competition and commercial and financial disputes practices. We have in-depth expertise across a variety of areas, including commercial disputes arising from technology projects, software licensing disputes, intellectual property disputes, data breach and privacy and claims arising from infringements of competition law in the technology sector.
