Kate Lomas

Kate Lomas is a Senior Associate in the Commercial Disputes team in London. She joined Eversheds Sutherland in 2018 and focusses on international arbitration, with a particular interest in the Middle East. Kate has built a diverse practice representing commercial clients involved in complex disputes, often in challenging jurisdictions. Recent arbitration experience includes: advising a Dutch client involved in a dispute with an Iraqi State owned-entity; advising a Swiss commodities trading company on a dispute arising from the bankruptcy of a Russian oil refinery; advising an American energy company on an ICC arbitration regarding a joint-venture in Madagascar, and advising on English law aspects of a related American arbitration; advising a European green energy company on a potential arbitration arising out of a joint venture dispute; advising a Swiss insured in an LCIA arbitration against its Russian credit risk insurer; advising an American company in relation to enforcement proceedings of an arbitration award relating to a dispute in Tanzania; advising an American company in relation to a dispute over an Egyptian oil field; advising a Saudi contractor in relation to potential arbitrations with its employer and sub-contractor, arising from a construction project in the Middle East; advising a Ugandan client on a potential claim against an International Organisation; assisting on an arbitration for a Middle Eastern government engaged in a construction dispute; Kate also provides non-contentious advice on arbitration/dispute resolution clauses in contracts. Kate is listed as a "rising star" in International Arbitration by Legal 500 (2021); and has featured in Legal Business's "Next Generation of Arbitration". Kate has also developed a practice advising on disputes in the transport sector.
