Ivan Gergov is partner in the Banking & Finance team at CMS’ Sofia office. His practice focuses on advising international financial institutions, agents, large corporates and arrangers on a wide range of national and cross-jurisdictional matters, in particular debt financings, restructurings and non-performing loans. Ivan has additionally particular experience in advising financial institutions and corporate clients on real estate and project financing transactions. He has acted for a wide range of lenders and borrowers alike, having extensive expertise in respect of the particulars of financing office buildings, shopping malls, and renewable energy projects. Recently, he has also been involved in a number of restructurings and non-performing loan portfolios’ sales. In particular, Ivan has been leading the restructurings of several high profile financing deals on the market, as well as the largest NPL sales in Bulgaria, supporting both sellers and buyers alike.

Working also in the Corporate and Private Equity practices, Ivan provides clients with a one-stop advice for their transactions in Bulgaria and the wider CEE region.

He advises clients on broad range of corporate law matters, with a particular focus on M&A deals, corporate governance and capital markets.

Ivan has extensive experience in advising clients on complex mergers and acquisitions within a broad range of industries. He has advised both sellers and buyers alike, having extensive expertise in relation to TMC, real estate and energy mandates. More recently, Ivan has also gained significant experience in the area of capital markets. In particular, Ivan he has been involved in multiple acquisitions of public companies, compliance with mandatory provisions by public companies, as well as the obtaining of licenses for investment intermediaries and AIFMs.
