Álvaro is a Partner of the firm and co-leads the Energy & Climate Change team. He is a Doctor of Law from the Universidad Colegio Mayor de Nuestra Señora del Rosario.

Álvaro began his career as a civil judge in Cúcuta (Colombia) and later moved to Bogotá where he opened his independent law firm. He has advised various national and foreign companies, including Financial Institutions, Oil & Gas Companies, Industrial and Commercial Corporations. On multiple occasions he has been appointed to represent the interests in dispute as legal representative of various companies in the energy sector.

In addition, he is a former member of the board of directors of the Franco Colombian Bank, the Colombian-French Chamber of Commerce, and was a founding member of the Colombian-Chilean Chamber of Commerce. He has also been a professor of commercial law at the Universidad del Rosario and the Universidad Santo Tomás.
