Atanas Bangachev is a Partner and Head of the Corporate practice group at CMS Sofia. He is a Bulgarian-qualified lawyer specialising in corporate, contract and privatisation law. Atanas is representing clients from a broad spectrum of industries, such as: media & telecoms, automotive, banking and finance, healthcare and lifesciences, energy, retail, consumer products, private equity clients, etc.

Atanas is one of the leading and best-known legal professionals in M&A and Private Equity in the country. Prior to joining CMS, he served as Executive Director of the Privatisation Agency of the Republic of Bulgaria and was involved in a number of the largest privatisation deals in Bulgaria, including the privatisation of various major energy and telecomunication companies. He has an extensive track record and is very familiar with the current issues on the market.

Atanas has led some of the most complex M&A deals, as well as exits in the country during the past 15 years. He is a regionally renowned corporate expert who often coordinates large projects out of Sofia or serves as a first point of contact for CMS practice leaders in regional mandates. His corporate experience, commercial and sector knowledge makes him an indispensable leader and coordinator of cross-border as well as local mandates.
