Counsel, Head of Media and IT

Anna Tanova is a Counsel in the CMS Sofia Litigation, Arbitration, Insurance, Employment (LAIE) team and heads CMS Sofia's Media and IT law practice.

Anna has a wealth of knowledge and experience in the fields of IP law, IT and Media. She is a qualified expert in new and traditional media, in communications and competition regulation. Since 2015 she has been the Executive Director of the Bulgarian Broadcasters Association - ABBRO. Prior to that, she spent eight years at the bTV Media Group, one of the biggest Bulgarian commercial TV broadcasters ⎯ the final four as Head of the Legal department.

Anna has significant experience in advising clients in the Media industry such as TV and radio broadcasters, cable and satellite operators, advertising agencies and web platforms, in negotiations for licensing of copyrights, IP and competition cases, audio-visual production projects, anti-piracy initiatives, media and advertising regulation and other regulatory and self-regulatory matters and initiatives, and on ongoing corporate and commercial activities of the clients.

Anna is an assistant professor in IP Law at Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski”, Faculty of Law. She has PD in EU Competition Law and MA in UK, EU, and US Copyright Law, King’s College, London.
