Gemma is a partner in CooperBurnett’s Family & Matrimonial department. Gemma has in-depth experience in care proceedings, acting on behalf of parents and children, and having been a member of the Law Society’s Children Panel, she has developed an interest in the laws around adoption, surrogacy, and parental orders. She also acts on behalf of clients in divorce proceedings and unmarried breakdowns.

She has extensive experience in handling all aspects of residential conveyancing and has built a loyal client base. Jennifer deals with both freehold and leasehold property and advises all manner of clients from first-time buyers to investors.

John is a partner with 20 years' experience in all aspects of property disputes including residential and commercial landlord and tenant work, diladpidations and service charge disputes, business and residential possession claims. He also advises on land law disputes, leasehold enfranchisement and right to manage claims, while having also developed niche specialisms in party wall and right to light cases.

Joseph Oates
Joseph Oates
Joseph is a partner and member of the firm’s Management Board. He is also the Head of the Contentious Department. Joseph has a thorough understanding of insolvency law and practice and successfully completed the JIEB insolvency exams in 2009. As a trained mediator, he adopts a commercial and straightforward approach to resolving disputes. Joseph advises on all aspects of contentious employment law, including settlement agreements.

Russell is a Partner in the Corporate and Commercial department. Russell advises on a broad spectrum of corporate and commercial law matters, from corporate finance to mergers and acquisitions (M&A) and investment and shareholders’ agreements. Russell also advises on all aspects of commercial law and has worked with numerous start-ups, both from the UK and abroad. He enjoys working closely with business owners and becoming part of their team and their ‘trusted adviser’.

Tom is a Partner at CooperBurnett and based within the Corporate and Commercial team, focusing on commercial property, acting for developers, landowners, and investors. Tom also advises on related issues, including rights of way, restrictive covenants, contamination, planning, and taxes affecting commercial property.Tom is an expert in advising charities and care homeowners on site acquisition, disposal, and finance. He advises on all aspects of leasehold enfranchisement, including lease extensions, and also specialises in property transactions involving a bankrupt individual or a company in liquidation.

Victoria advises on all aspects of corporate and commercial law, including mergers and acquisitions.Victoria works with shareholders, directors, and partners of all types of commercial contracts. Regularly acting for banks and financial institutions in perfecting security, as well as advising on corporate finance matters.
