Career

Edward Hanover advises clients on compliance programs and investigations both domestically and internationally. He helps organizations evaluate, build and improve upon their compliance programs, risk mitigation activities and governance processes. He has represented some of the largest and highest profile organizations in the world building and enhancing their compliance programs and conducting internal investigations. Organizations he has worked with include FIFA (Fédération Internationale de Football Association), the largest sports organization in the world, along with sports, healthcare, technology and non-governmental organizations.

Before joining DLA Piper, he served as the first chief compliance officer of FIFA, appointed in 2016 and responsible for designing and implementing a successful compliance program and leading a team of compliance professionals providing support to 211 member associations and six confederations. Earlier in his career, Ed served as vice president and head of compliance for emerging markets at Takeda Pharmaceuticals and as general counsel and head of compliance for international operations (emerging markets) for Novo Nordisk. Ed is also an adjunct professor of law at Georgetown University where he lectures on modern compliance concepts for businesses and sport.
